Prof. N. is the toughest grader I've ever met. The highest grade I've gotten on a discussion board was a 23/25. The lowest grade I've gotten was a 13/25. On both of those, the only feedback I received was "try to include more detail and analysis." If you're a fan of vague responses and extremely high expectations, you'll love this class.

I have been in college for a while, on the dean's list for two semester's. I took this class as an elective online. This professor offers no study notes on BB. The chapters for this book in Western Civilization were 40 pages or more. No nothing..I don't recommend this professor.

I LOVED taking Professor Nalmpantis For Western Civ 1 and U.S History . She really knows her stuff and I never wanted to miss a class because of how phenomenal of a teacher she is. As long as you study off of her study guides and pay attention in class you will get an A no problem. She has 2 primary source assignments and three exams.

Comment:

Nalmpantis is one of the funniest professors Lakeland had to offer. You can expect a lot of reading. There are three tests, two homework assignments and miscellaneous extra points. Her lectures are fantastic. I felt like I was watching the history channel in person and actually retaining information. It's an easy "A or B" depending on your efforts

This professor is patient and does a great job at explaining the material. She is easy going and she wants students to engage in the classroom discussions and ask questions. She is clear on what needs to be done and study guides are given and discussed in class. This is a great professor to have!

I took Dr. Nalmpantis online class for Western Civ 1. In the beginning it was tough. Every week there 1 test, & two questions & responses on discussion board (not hard). The good thing about the tests is you can take it twice, so I almost always got an A/B the second time. She will only give you 23/25 on discussion boards. 1 long paper due. Not bad

Like someone else said, on discussion boards she would give 23/25 and say good job but not why a 23. Better read ever detail in the book because it will be on the quizzes. A lot of work. The paper you have to do is AWFUL, she gives you the paper and it has nothing to do with her questions. Worst part of the class. I wouldn't take it again.

This is a hard class there is no getting around it. However, she is SUCH a hard grader. She will give you a 23/25 on discussion boards and her comments will say "excellent work last week." Quizzes are tough so read the chapters. She takes forever to grade assignments. Assigns one long paper that is pretty easy.

took as an 8 week online course. Assignments were graded quickly, although somewhat subjectively. It is work, but if you manage your time well it is manageable. Weekly quizzes, two longer assignments and weekly discussions. Gives clear expectations and helpful if you ask for feedback.

I took Western Civ 1 online with Professor Nalmpantis. This class is very easy, there's not a lot of work to do, and the work we have to do is very simple. The class consists of discussion board posts (literally so easy) and quizzes (you can use your book because it's an online class). If you're going to take this class, take it online!! So easy!

Professor Nalmpantis was a hard professor. I took her Western Civ. class online and I worked harder for this class than any other class that I ever had. She expects you to know what she knows and makes everything confusing. Apparently she thinks that a 3 credit hour class means that you have nothing else to do.I DO NOT recommend her class!

Good teacher but somewhat hard teacher. She is very knowledgeable in history so it may be hard to keep up with her lectures. Goes into a lot of detail about things. Her assignments are also a bit of a challenge. Would def take another of her classes. Is a very nice and understanding teacher.

Took online, big mistake! Do not take it with her. She makes everything difficult for students. If you are not a history buff like her, she will purposely ask you difficult questions to make you look stupid. Even my friend that took her class in school said the same thing. It?s just not worth taking her class.

She is wonderful. I had her for 2 different history classes during two semesters. She doesn't reiterate the information in the text but rather focuses her lectures on things not in the book. She is very interesting to listen to and does her best to keep you interested in the lectures. Every class is a lecture unless it's a test day. However, she gives out outlines for each lecture so you can follow along. Also, she gives you a review sheet of exactly what will be on the tests.

Dr. Nalmpantis is one of the best teachers I've had. Her lectures are very clear & to the point.She is always available, she has a good sense of humor which made the class even more enjoyable.She is very intelligent and is passionate about her classes. Take additonal notes on her outlines during lecture it helps remember the info!! Read as well!
