Took Prof. Olson a couple of semesters ago. His course is tough if you are not disciplined. Lays down a foundation which he expects your writing to meet. Although the work is a bit demanding, his guidelines are clear and the content almost always interesting. If you pay attention, he is incredibly engaging, and even comical. Solid professor.

He gives clear guidelines for what he expects in class and in the papers you will write in his class. He may come off as unapproachable or arrogant but he's giving you all the resources you'll need for future english courses.

Professor Olson can come off to be very strict and intimidating at times, but from the first day of class he makes it very clear what he expects from you. The writing assignments are extremely difficult, but he gives you many weeks to finish them and also time in class to work on them. I definitely learned a lot from his class.

I dropped him because of how disrespectful he was to me in class. He checks if you did the hw. I saw him not let a kid in class ones because he was late, basically doesn't care about his students. He is not funny at all.

He gives clear instructions on what needs to be done, how it should be done, and when it should be done. The class is completely planned out from the beginning. As long as you read the assignment when told you should be fine in the class. Although you still have to put in a good amount of effort

Great guy but horrible Professor. Expects you to listen to his stories but when you ask for help he gives sarcastic remarks and doesnt answer your questions. He gives 10 minute lectures and the stuff you were supposed to do for homework you do in class. Attendance is mandatory but really no point in showing up.

I went to his office hours for him to help me with my paper and then went to the writing center. Mr. Olson gave me a ton of corrections in the couple meetings then told me the last meeting, that my paper was good after making all of the changes he told me too and I still got an awful grade. You will never be able to make him happy no matter what.

WILL be completely rude. TOO MANY PAPERS TO WRITE. Grading system is pure trash. His "jokes" are not funny but he cracks up at them. Will ask you to see him in office hours for help but wont actually help you. Will lecture for 10 minutes then tell you to work on your own for the rest of the class and expects you to get a good grade on papers.

Professor Olson is a great professor. He will teach you to be an incredible writer. His lectures are amusing and the material he teaches is incredibly interesting. He seems to enjoy what he does and makes you enjoy it too. He is an eccentric guy and does not tolerate nonsense so that might be bad for some people, but he is just a great instructor.

He's a second rate professor thinking he's some king of a gauntlet. No help outside class, and is very unclear with assignments, to the point where you'll do 2 hours of work and realize you've been writing the wrong paper. Get ready for "Sourced based writing" with the most nuanced grading you'll ever see in your life.
