Comment:
Might be the worst CS professor at Clark. My goodness is he terrible. He gives absolutely no clarity whatsoever, the software used for his course is egregiously designed, and the assignments do NOT help you learn any of the core concepts of the course at all. Avoid this professor at all costs. You will regret it if you don't.

The lecture is good especially for the test demonstration of OS. The project is very difficult but very helpful for understanding the basic concept of the OS. The professor is nice and humour and also not tough for grade.

Knows the material but could do a better job of communicating it to students. Class projects are the biggest minus, they rely on his homebrew 'z502' hardware emulation software. Instead of coding an OS for real hardware using a working Linux branch you are expected to understand his badly documented "hardware."

Comment:
(+)OS material was relevant to modern OS design. (-)The projects were not. Unlike similar courses, you won't be building on an existing OS like *Nix. Instead you'll be writing one from scratch on top of his marginally documented z502 hardware simulator, a bunch of C code designed to act like hardware. Avoid this course w/ this professor.

Now teaches the same course at WPI. Teaches straight from the book author's slides, which are pretty awful to begin with, and you'll never understand his explanations. Quizzes are insane, projects are even worse. May have actually failed the class because of how he scales quiz grades. Avoid at all costs.

Reads the slides provided by the textbook company to you for lecture. Any additional comments he makes are not helpful, and tend to make everyone including him more confused. The projects assigned are ahead of lecture by about 2 weeks so even if they were good they wouldn't be useful

Simply cannot teach a damn thing. In fact, listening to him will probably hurt your chances of learning. You'll still go crazy because of his vague, inconsistent and frustrating projects. Sarcastic, rude, and outright mean, not to mention totally clueless when it comes to actually programming. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Completely insane. Vaguely knows what he's talking about, believe "teaching" means "force to reverse engineer". You better read up on your own or you are totally sunk. When asked a question, often responds "Well that's one of life's great mysteries". Don't volunteer anything, keep your head down and get the hell out.

Helpful and approachable. People who feel otherwise probably generally expect teachers to do all the work; those who can study on their own and know what questions to ask will have no problem.
