Jerry is clearly a nice and knowledgeable guy, but there isn't enough instruction going on in this class. Assignments are difficult because you don't always have the necessary info and you have to find it yourself. Assignment expectations tend to be unclear too. Expect to put in a lot of time and effort, it's way harder than a regular 100 level.

I took this class as a general education class. Although i found it hard, thats because i knew nothing about it. LUCKILY jerry is an awesome teacher and is beyond willing to help and ask any questions! would highly recommend him!!

Comment:

A great overall experience in the class. I don?t think I will ever be able to fully understand Java no matter what but I have a fair knowledge of it after this course. Jerry is a great guy and the TA was phenomenal. Worked in groups for all the HW projects which helped a lot. If Kate is the TA for any other CSE classes, make sure you get her!

Jerry is a very nice man and always willing to help. It is hard to learn Java online although. Did pretty good but didn?t come out of the class with much. This is the last time this class is being run online. Java will now me your traditional lecture, lab class from now on.

The TA for this class was my best experience I have had at OU. She would go above and beyond to help you out. Would schedule meetings around your schedule and come in just to help you out. She actually knew her stuff inside and out and was able to explain everything in great detail. Kate should teach the class!

Very difficult to learn Java online. Class consisted of eight very challenging programming projects with each one getting harder and three quizzes that had conceptual and what will this code execute questions. The final exam was optional. Jerry was very helpful in answering emails, scheduling office hours and during the optional lab secession.

For an online programming class, it was run pretty well. I was able to get help from the teacher when I needed it and I was able to get my assignments complete with little fuss (unlike my present programming class with a different teacher). For an online class, it wasn't too bad.

I took the online section. Tests were EASY, final was harder because you had to come up with code on the spot. SAVE all your projects and print them out to bring with you to the final. Was nice to work on projects with partners. He always responded back promptly and the powerpoints were helpful if you took the time to review them.

hisis a boring man with easy exams on the material that he actually covers. the labs can be a pain but ok to work on and he will extend a helping hand to anyone who is trying in the cousre. i would definetly take his class again.

I don't think he is boring..He has got some great stuff to say. He is not uptight or weird, but is a normal instructor. Amazing.
