Comment:
A communist sympathizer that treats the class like children. Most of the class is focused on the obsession of Russia she seems to have. Although most people found her easy, she has adapted her grading criteria. Dont go into this class thinking its going to be easy. I spent more time on this class than any of my others. Beware of insane GSI graders.

Nesbet is one of my favorite teachers. This course was such a pleasure to take. Course composed of great lectures, lots of class discussion with great mediation/guidance from Nesbet. Nesbet also gives tons of detailed, critical, supportive feedback. Above all, she makes information interesting. Definitely inspirational!

Professor Nesbet is nice, kind, and hilarious. I enjoyed her class. This class is more like the course of learning how to write through children's lit. Outside of the class, she is easily accessible. Also she gives concrete advice for every paper we submit.

During my first semester, Nesbet taught me how to really write a good paper, and I will forever be in her debt because of that. On top of that, she's an amazing person who gives super fun/easy lectures. She got us tickets for a silent film festival in SF, and invited us to the party she had after she published her book! One of my favorite classes.

great feedback on response papers. Even though she doesn't grade them (you just get points for completion, which is awesome), she gives thoughtful feedback and appreciates arguments on weird, ambiguous aspects of a film. Lectures aren't super high energy, but her humor shines through. She emphasizes her class is about learning and not stressing out

Professor Nesbet is absolutely amazing. It really felt like she connected with our class and made everyone feel involved and like their opinion on our readings mattered. Without a doubt a must take professor.

Quirky and funny as a person, her lectures got pretty bland. She does not post slides so it's important to notate everything to do well on the tests. She chose interesting films for the period to watch, but pre 1930- things are b&w and silent. Important to watch the films- thats what the papers are on. Definitely watch all before final. Stay awake.

She is without a doubt the best professor I've had at Cal.I usually despise morning classes but she made me want to come to class. Prof. Nesbet is also the kindest and sweetest personshe finds ways to engage her students and often made my inner child reemerge when she included activities like show & tell, treasure hunts, and sticker parties!

Sci Fi class. She means well and is approachable, but has no idea how to run a class. She doesn't lecture but just lets people rant on. Doesn't come with prepared lectures, which makes class boring and often useless. Readings are random and often way off topic. Overall easy, but would not recommend her.

I had the biggest crush on this prof. I think it was her intellegence, and fantastic way of describing her time in Paris, and contact with dificult texts. Plus there is her awesome Roger Ebert story

The most difficult class offered to undergraduate film students, taught by perhaps the most patient professor I have ever met. She helped me get from a C to an A- in her course. She's great. I love her.

I had her for a science fiction seminar once. Very interesting class, and very relaxed discussion atmosphere. We had a lot of reading for the class, but that's balanced out by the fact that she grades very easy. Easy A, if you do all your work.
