Great teacher, material is very clear (asks students to use his own lecture notes). His tests are pretty hard but the quizzes and homework all prepare you for it. Grading is set up where you have a lot of chances to redeem yourself if you mess up. Attendance is taken for a grade though.

Well McCoy is as slow as a slot in grading papers. He doesn't really give early feedback. When I took him for physics by the time we were to write the final exam the previous exam wasn't graded, the exam before that wasn't posted online. He should improve by giving the course percentage of students in real time.

McCoy is a tough but an excellent professor. His lectures involve demos, in-class discussions, and problems. His exams are pretty difficult but are based on his class notes, homework, and in-class demos. He is also slow on grading. However, he is passionate about physics, cares about his students, and is willing to help if you come to his office.

I took McCoy's Phys-2053 (Physics I) in the spring. I failed. That being said, McCoy was a phenomenal professor. His grading criteria were clear, the videos he makes are significantly faster than textbook reading, and he has generous office hours. My failure was my own- Prof. McCoy runs a pretty tight ship. You simply have to get yourself onboard.

He knows his stuff and covers it extensively. If you want an A however, you have to put in the work, do the homework, and show up for the lectures.

Mr. McCoy is a fantastic professor. The tests and exams are mainly from the homeworks and the class notes. If you don't study you don't pass!!!

This class is listed as a traditional lecture section, but is in fact an online class. I find it very misleading. Every quiz, homework, and lecture are strictly online material, yet there is an attendance grade for the regular class times which are pretty much useless. TU is really dropping the ball here.

Mr. McCoy is an amazing professor who has a great passion in teaching to ensure that you understand and do well in Physics, from the very basic concepts. His exams may look challenging in general, but none of them are outside of the classnotes, the homework and the demos in class. Do not expect to get good grades in his class, unless you work hard.

Simultaneously one of the best and worst professors I have ever had. He is hilarious and loves teaching. He is respected and loved by students, but man does he make you work for it. The tests are killer (about half the class would fail each one). I attended every class and spent days upon end studying and still made my first C ever.

Careful his Tests are extremely difficult. He teaches pretty well although he's not very thorough and with his homework, quizzes, and tests you need to know the information super in depth.

This was the absolute hardest lab I have taken. I complained the whole way through the semester. The weekly write-ups ranged from 15-30 pages. It seemed terrible at the time because it was. However, I don't foresee any issues with writing ever again in my life. I am very glad to have had this lab.

McCoy is very interested in his students and is very passionate about physics. His homework is near impossible, and tests and quizzes are slightly easier than the homework. Make sure you talk to him if you have a problem or need help. He WILL help you if you're willing to find him.

I have gone into his office several times with HW problems that he can't even answer. If he didn't have the answer he would be useless. Recently he said that if the volt across a resistor read zero it meant there is no current passing through that resistor. Which is actually why a lot of electricians die on accident. No volt could mean no resistnce

Really nice guy. I don't like his teaching style. You must memorize how to do the homework problems and when the class is over that's all you will have had time to learn. If it's between him and Edwards TAKE EDWARDS.
