This is one of the most unique courses I have taken and offered. Ancient and medieval India was so enlightening as taught by prof. Palsetia. It was not sentimentalize or sanitized like some courses. A great course.

Dr. Palsetia is easily the most boring lecturer I've ever had. This is amplified especially because this was a very small class size. That being said, he does have a dry sense of humour which somewhat makes up for his monotonous lectures.

I am a first year student. New to history. This course surprised me as I expected to memorize things like in high school. But at uni. you learn about the subject and detail your answers. Instructor was excellent and clear in expectations. Raise your game and credit given for effort put in. Dozzy and lose. That's the bottom line. And a good thing.

Course material I found very interesting with Dr. Palsetia, did well on the essay but with that said he expects an extremely high level of detail on his tests (one midterm worth 25% and a final worth 40%). Attending lectures and doing the readings are essential to doing well on his tests. Can get by with just lectures but definitely won't get an A.

Palsetia is a very good professor. Not flashy, but very smart, well read, cultured, and very good at lecturing. Lectures are gems, full of information, personal insights. I downloaded all the ppts as they were incredible. And his wit is so dry it's salty! Takes me a day to figure it out, and then I laugh and laugh!

He's a fairly boring/quiet speaker, but overall knows his stuff. Lectures are really filled with content, so show up so that you know what he's talking about. Tells you which topics you're writing the exam on, so it's pretty easy to study for.

This is a very effective instructor whose syllabus and in class expectations were clearly laid out and followed. A true professional and very intelligent man. I loved his lecture that were full of great info and understandable. Students who complain should rethink why they take history. 1150 was great and I would take a course with Palsetia again.

I am sad that this course is over. I enjoyed and found valuable every lecture the instructor gave. I learned about the whole world in the 20th century. Instructor was keen, very smart, and a classic and classy prof. Gets irritated with lack of attention; which is good. No trendy nonsense like so many instructors. Very valuable course. Thank you.

I took Hist 1150 as a first year student afraid of university. I loved this course. The professor was amazing in teaching us very complex topics in the most understandable way. He is an intellectual that treats people with respect without babying them. I loved this course and instructor.

Professor Palsetia's class bored me to death. I love history, it's my major, but he made me hate it. His was the only class I actually hated going to, because he could make an hour and twenty minutes feel like three hours. However, his instructions for assignments are clear. That being said, I'd never want to take one of his courses again.

Jesse Palsetia seems like a nice enough person, but his lecture's are fairly boring. The slide's are all text, and he basically reads what it says with little added information. That being said, he gives very clear instruction for tests and papers. There was only 3 marks in the class though, so you have to work for those three.

I have taken 3 Courses with the guy and I'd take more if I could. Very kind and understanding. His instructions for exams and essays were very clear. If he sees that you've put in a good effort he will give you a pretty decent mark. I'm gonna miss him after I graduate :)

Palsetia is a great professor, I highly recommend taking his courses if you are interested in Eastern or Asian history. He has a witty sense of humor and I find his comments to be very helpful. He is a fair marker and notices when you put effort into your work. His accent is really cool to boot.

Great prof. Smart and funny, don't be afraid to participate, just don't be cocky or arrogant and he won't shut you down. Class on British Imperialism in Asia and Africa was immensely interesting, I loved every class I went to and regretted every one I missed.

Good class. You never know when he is going to drop a clever line which makes his lectures interesting. Don't ask questions off the top of your head though because unlike other history profs at Guelph he will correct and often embarrass you. Otherwise very helpful and nice, always knows everyone name somehow.

Good lecturer, though I found him to be very condescending to students and quite arrogant at times. Decent as a lecturer, but I'd be wary if you ever wanted to take a seminar with him.
