I enjoyed this class. Easy going prof with a good sense of humour. No textbook, just papers written by leading intellectuals in various areas of discourse analysis. Some of the readings were a little technical, but the prof did a good job of explaining the concepts and class discussions were lively and fun.

Lectures were engaging and useful. She seems to genuinely want students to learn and care about the material, and she's lenient with deadlines if there are valid reasons. Overall very friendly and helpful.

Wow! Finally, a prof at UBC that actually cares if the students are learning or not... very helpful and willing to help you out until you get it. The lectures were fun and more student-involving than the average lecture at UBC.

I came into this course with ZERO interest and expecting to hate it. It was actually pretty interesting. Some might find the lectures repetitious, but it helped make the subject matter understandable. She's incredibly patient and genuinely wants to make sure students are learning. Cool lady. :)

I don't know about her other classes but for ENGL 312 Dr de Villiers is good. She was happy and positive and went above and beyond to answer any questions. Attendance is totally mandatory because you can get lost easily, but otherwise it is a fun course that you can do quite well in.

USELESS prof. I learned NOTHING from her. She's ditzy and airheaded, and was late for just about EVERY class, including on the very first day. Extremely unorganized, tried cramming everything ni the last month of class. Oh yeah. and she eats altoids while she teaches by the handful. It's really weird...

Not the most exciting class but material was clear and her marking was fair. She was really bubbly and nice and you can tell that's she was really into what she taught. She had a hot grad student that sometimes came to class with herĂ¢€"those were the best classes!

donno about her other classes, but her eng 312 class rocks. if u like to take lots of notes and read textbooks, DON'T TAKE HER CLASS. but if you like to have a fun and easy class, then she's definately the right prof for you. she's lively and her class is engaging.

This class was crap! It was supposed to be approaches to non fiction not linguistics. Her lectures are stupid and she rarely makes any sense, dont take this class if she's the prof.

Interesting to look at but not to learn from because the lectures were unstructured and boring. Friendly and helpful during office hours. Exams are fairly easy.

She marks the essays pretty easily. The material she teaches is more of Linguistics material... Very very boring classes... the articles she chooses are very boring as well... if you read the articles you don't need to go to class. Her lectures are pointless and boring, boring, boring.

Basically, if u get a course from this woman, u should probably consider dropping it. Everything she taught was totally irrelavent. Whoever allows the woman to teach in an English class should get his brain checked, Jassica is a linguistic prof, keep her there and don't let her ruin the class gagain

she's really nice and helpful if you see her in office hours. the only thing is that she's a little all over the place, so if you need really structured lectures, i'd probably advise against her. otherwise, though, she's fine and never boring.

Jessica and whoever approved her class should be expelled from UBC. Her class is beyond tedious. If we have to spend another hour discussing the various ways of saying, "The fox chased the rabbit" I'm going to scream! I signed up for approches to non-fiction, NOT intro to linguistics.
