Comment:
Jewel was the best mentor that I could have asked for--she always went above and beyond for her students. She is one of the foremost scholars in her field, yet is still able to transfer her passion for and knowledge of modernist literature with surprising clarity. Unfortunately, she has recently retired and will be sorely missed at Eckerd College.

Professor Brooker is extremely knowledgeable about literature. However, she isn't very welcoming of other opinions. Weigh that against learning from her vast knowledge. Her classes are very challenging, but she is passionate and that can be a great motivator.

Amazingly intelligent. One of the best professors I've ever had. She is real passionate about her work and knows every piece of context and allusion. Very clear in explaining the heart of the work. Fair! Expects you to know what is important without trying to intimidate you. I learn and recall the most from her teaching style. Brilliant!

Prof. Brooker's guidance in poetry is incredible. Her attention to detail and willingness to work with the student in problem areas made it the most inspiring literature course I have ever taken. I strongly encourage students with a career interest in literature to take one of her classes!

Brilliant woman and one of Eckerd's finest. She expects the best from her students and deserves it. Definitely not a teacher of any "blow off classes" but an invaluable resource.

Easily one of the most boring professors I've ever had to hear lecture. I was bored to tears 98% of her class. The material was good, she knew her stuff, she's just really boring.
