Pretty important yet difficult theory class, that is made even more brutal by his teaching. Explanations don't make much sense, as he doesn't know how to best get the point across. Brutal assignments and exams. Don't really feel like i have solid algorithm knowledge now AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Jia You is a very approachable, friendly and caring professor. I went to his office hour and asked him problem one on the assignment, he ended up explain the whole assignment and told me to come back to his office hour if I have more questions. People say that his lectures are dry, WELL, ALGORITHM IS A DRY TOPIC to talk about in the first place.

Online notes are mostly better than his explanations. Few part marks on his tests. Doesn't explain or help with more difficult topics in the course and goes over the simple topics in excessive amounts. Outside of class assistance is very minimal. Assignment descriptions very poorly worded and provides little to no clarifications.

Nice guy, but difficult material. To do well you need hands on experience to understand the lectures. If you go to him during his office hours he tries very hard to help you understand.

Fairly good prof, I really liked the guy. The course is pretty tough, and for not being an "AI guy" I thought he did pretty well. Not too difficult to understand, I kinda liked his accent actually.

This is a class on artificial intelligence so it's relatively interesting, yet he managed to bore the hell out of everyone. His assignments are very difficult. He is disrespectful to students and not helpful at all.

As a person, he is a decent guy. As a professor, understanding what he is saying is very hard since English doesn't seem to be his first language. As a result of that he doesn't explain concepts clearly. He puts effort into teaching but the language barrier is just too great.
