Comment:
Dr. McInnes is an awesome science teacher! My only advice is to not skip class or you might fall behind on the material. He makes you buy course notes rather than the expensive book and it's much easier to keep up with. If you actually want or need to learn chemistry, Dr. McInnes is the way to go. Take Dr. Maples for lab though!

Hi, guys. I hope this helps you to take Dr. McInnes's class at East Central from now on. Well, I am not a native speaker of English at all, so I felt quite hard to take his class in the beggining due to the large amount of contents, but he is the very last person who neglect those students trying to do best. So, take him!

I had him for OCHEM I and, while it was certainly challenging, I learned a great deal from him. I think he is one of them more challenging professors at ECU, but I am happy to say that his instruction helped develop my critical thinking abilities in a way that will send me to a great institution. Don't be lazy, be intelligent, and you will make it.

Dr. McInnes is the best professor I've had yet.I've had him for Gen.Chem.I & Org.ChemI.He takes the time to create handouts for chapters and lectures from the handouts, which is great because you always know what's coming next. Also he uses repetition so you learn the material better. This is Chemistry & not easy!STUDY!Students are too lazy these days

Very difficult. We took 4 tests and the average on all of them was in the 40's. Doesn't explain stuff well at all. doesn't allow room for questions in class. possible to pass because there is such a high curve but you don't know until the very end. expected to know info just as much as he does and when you ask him, he doesn't explain it better.

McInnes belongs in a laboratory, not in a classroom. The averages on his tests in Org I&II were below 40%. In order to pass people, he was forced to curve over 20 points. Do not take this class and expect to learn anything. I'm now studying for the MCAT and having to learn all of Organic I&II again. ---DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!

Would not recommend for Chem--expects students to be experts at this--moves sooo fast it is almost impossible to keep up --If take dont take any other classes--No reviews for tests, which averages every test were below 50!!! DO NOT take if not wanting to be a doctor or chemist!!!

Very knowledgeable and structured. He has a slight phobia about groups, so he's very soft spoken and sometimes hard to hear. You HAVE to go to class, pay attention, and STUDY in order to do well. Don't despair if you fail his tests, it's VERY difficult coursework. Our entire class was curved almost two letter grades at the end of the semester!

He is very soft spoken, so sit in the front. But, he's a really nice man and he'll help you all he can. You have homework, so that helps your overall grade quite a bit.

You need to ask him one on one questions after class to better understand the work. The coursework is cake to him, if you don't try to get it, he isn't going to ask you. This isn't high school.

Don't let his passive nature fool you, his tests are hard! Expect to do a lot of work in his class, but also expect to learn a lot as well. Works well with students preparing for professional schools.
