Comment:

She is one professor who thinks a lot about her students and encourages them to become something in their lives. She believes that student life is to work hard and learn more. She is also a good researcher in the bioinformatics field which excites me a lot.

Comment:

I think I spent more time teaching her on the subject than I did learning. .NET is fully available through MSDN and all of her assignments were taken straight from it. She only really went over very old .NET and didn't teach anyone about the newer features available to the class. I'm sure she'll get better over the next few years.

She's not very knowledgeable on the subject. The assignments and tests were written by another professor so she did not know how to help us or what we should prepare for. There wasn't much reason to go to the lectures, if you did the assignments and used google U for the rest you'll be fine.

Jie is absolutely amazing! The class is challenging, but she teaches very well. The assignments are lengthy and challenging, but she is very helpful. It's a 400 level course , so the assignment write ups are very vague( That's the point!) Nothing will be spoon fed to you! If you put the extra effort in, you WILL become a quality java developer.

I found her hard to pay attention to but she explained stuff well and wrote specific lines of code on the board when needed. She graded more lenient than the TA. Notes were mostly powerpoints but they were well organized enough that they helped me through all the assignments, which could be difficult and frustrating at times.

Very useless professor. Basically read powerpoint slides off a piece of paper every class and wrote it on the board. Never actually taunt anything beyond what I would easily google/wikipedia search. Her accent was very annoying and her speaking volume was too low for a 30 personal class. very disappointing.

Decent professor. Does have an accent, but not as bad as other professors. Never use the book. Does go through the material well, and always willing to answer questions. But as all computer science classes, you need to put in the work in programs to truly learn.

Topics covered are a mile wide and an inch deep. Instead of gaining a deep understanding of how operating systems work, you memorize a bunch of definitions. I was very disappointed with this class. Also, don't buy the book-- we never used it.

Very nice professor, her notes are nice and clear. She didn't write the programs for our class, but she did the write the tests. They were generally not hard (if you did the assignments and went to class you were good to go). She is really helpful if you have questions, and I would definitely recommend her.

very clear notes! Very good at explaining things. She wants everyone to learn -> answer her when she asks questions! Ask questions! If no does, you will never learn. Progs hard/tests easier but she DOES NOT WRITE PROGS OR TESTS :(

I really enjoyed this class. I learned more from Zhou in 1 semester than I learned in the previous year for CS at NIU. She is tough so work hard, study and learn.
