One of the hardest classes I have ever had. Will never take another class with her. Tests were extremely difficult and she takes points off with no explanation. Rarely receive 100% on anything.

Comment:

Probably the most difficult class I've taken here at NMU but it was extremely rewarding although I felt like the class was designed to be harder than it needs to be. Dr. Leonard is one of the best in the department.

She is really into active learning which is a breath of fresh air on campus. She really loves to talk up about fish which is extremely encouraging and inspirational to anyone curious. Shes one of those professors who will always have your back as long as you respect her and that you put effort in. My favorite professor I have ever had - always fun!

Comment:

One of my favorite professors. She is fair, willing to help students, and a dedicated professor. She is definitely there for you and often puts students first. If you get the chance to work on some of her research stuff, do it! You will learn a lot from Dr. Leonard, but you need to be willing to put in the work.

She demands a great deal of students, but that's really not a problem... she's a great instructor if you actually want to learn, but you just CAN'T coast through her classes. Very helpful and knowledgeable about biology in general, and fish in particular. Pretty reasonable, and despite the rare loss of temper, is quite friendly.

I feel that she is a fairly good professor as far as lecture goes, however her tests are incredibly unclear as to what she is asking. Evan if knowlageble on the material, when taking the tests a grade of C- or evan D+ is not uncommon.

Dr. Leonard was very helpful and learning was easy in her class. She did not put up with crap from students who were to lazy to put forth the effort necessary to pass her class. You had to have a good understanding of the material to pass the tests. Her tests are very partical and require you to think. If you really want to learn take her class.

I have always been a good student and go to all the classes, but she was so rude and incosiderate that I couldn't even listen to her talk because it made me so furious! Bad for any student who doesn't have a good amount of personal motivation because she gives you the opposite.

Worst professor in BI Dept. Plays favoritism and likes to 'mother' students. Not an ecologist and shouldn't be teaching it. Too much profanity in lecture. Labs childish & unorganized-very unprofessional. Scientific method and reasoning seem to escape her. Needs a reality check. LARGE ego.
