I took his classes, at Mizzou, in 1988-89! He said in order to be a good copywriter, you need to be in touch with what most people are thinking and be a good person. I still remember getting his recommended Cultural Literacy book and our class playing "Family Feud" in order to learn what the masses think. He is a great prof...and a good person!

I've been out of college now for almost 10 years. Jim is the only professor I miss. Get him to tell you the story about brainstorming in a cemetary. I think he rode a motorcycle then too. Always available to listen. I will never forget him. If you take his class, tell him Donna Adcock sends her love, and that I still use "the snapper."

Jim's a good teacher and great copywriter. His examples are sometimes outdate, but they still apply to basic copywriting practices today. I however think the class should be limited to copywriters only, I think we would learn more.

He is helpful in his unhelpfulness. He's easy to please but really hates your work. If you put in the effort, you'll still be a poor creative person. You have it or you don't. Don't let him fool you with BIG promisses of a great future!

If you're an ad major, you don't have a choice. Man can be unpredictable. Don't yawn, fall asleep, show up late or miss class, and maybe you'll get a B. If you're creative.
