He was one of the best, if not the best, professor I've had at RIC. He is so passionate about teaching , so caring, I looked forward to going to his class every week. There are no big papers, just a reading project and the rest of the grade comes from practicum. I would take him again in a heartbeat. If you can take a class with him, do it. 10/10

Do not miss in class lectures as you will have planning time for your practicum. Listen to everything that is said as it all ties in to what you will be working on throughout the semester. There are no quizzes or test and no textbook is required. He is knowledgeable and inspirational

I gave a 5 for easiness, not because it wasn't challenging, but actually because it was and the style with which he relayed the info was so seamless that I was fixated (which is hard w/ ADHD!) I would take him for every class if I could. He is a model of what all teachers should strive to be. I honestly could go on for pages-he is the absolute best

Barton is awesome! Hands down my favorite professor! He is so helpful and inspirational. If you have a chance to take him you must! He made me so confident when it came to teaching and he is always willing to help you with lessons and ideas!

If you can, taking a class with Professor Barton is a MUST! He actually shows you HOW to teach, and is so encouraging. He cares about his students as individuals, and always gives one on one feedback about lesson plans and implementation. The best professor I've ever had!

I took reading two as my last eled course with dr. Barton. He is the best professor in the eled department by far. Not only did I learn ALOT but he gives no busy work and is very to the point. Also, there is no book required. I really enjoyed his class! If you can take him you should!

An absolute honor to be in this man's class. There is not a better teacher or better person than Jim Barton. The respect and compassion he brings to education cannot be matched. He also makes each student feel special and builds on each individual's ideas. It's a shame if you leave the teaching program without being able to learn from him.

Easily the greatest professor you will ever take. The only education professor that truly shows you HOW TO TEACH. He truly cares about each person, and loves what he does. You will learn more in this class than in all of your other education classes combined. Do whatever you can to make his class fit into your schedule!!

Definitely the most helpful teaching professor I've ever had. He always pushes you to find a way to challenge your students and be creative. Very, very helpful. Always sticks around for questions if anything isn't clear. I hope I can take him again for 424.

One Word...AMAZING!!!! Dr. Barton is so true to his profession. He is so helpful and gets to know each one of his students and his/her teaching styles. There are no tests in his class, only one case study at the end of the semster. This is a teaching class that you truely just teach in. It is awesome and so is he! Dr. Barton is the man! :)
