Hands down one of my favorite professors at ASU. Engaging and funny, he knows his subject left, right and upside down. He's super encouraging, and for an online class created an mp4 for individual students for each assignment. I wish he taught more classes! The book isn't necessary, but it's pretty interesting.

I took Literature for Young Adults with Professor Blasingame and I really enjoyed the class! The textbook is easily avoidable, I don't think I opened it once, and the articles he posts for reading throughout are interesting enough to hold your attention! This class wasn't overly work heavy. Great class and professor, I would recommend.

He was honestly a really great professor and made taking an accelerated upper division online class doable. The material is easy to understand and I really enjoyed the class. I would highly recommend taking his class. He's great and the class is great. I would take another class with him in a heartbeat.

This professor is easily the best professor I have taken in my college career. He is amazing passionate about English, Teaching, and Young Adult Literature. If you have any interest in these subjects, and have room in your schedule, please take him. He offers several special events outside of class for extra credit, and all assignments are fun!

Don't waste your money on the textbook! All you do is read an article and write a paragraph response back to him. It's so easy, and he gives you excellent feedback as well as suggestions for books to read. Best class I have ever taken!

A great professor. Took his class in the summer & was only required to do one typed discussion paragraph a week & a final 500-word essay on 2 YA books. I enjoyed the textbook & understanding more about the genre. If you like to read YA (or read in general) you'll like this class. He gave me more suggestions of books to add to my TBR pile.

I really liked Dr. Blasingame. Don't waste your money on his textbook though. You have to read two novels for the class, which he provides a list, but if you find one the interests you outside that list, he's pretty open to allowing you to read it instead.

You are will read 21 books that are young adult literature. It was so fun to explore my love for reading that died when I first started ASU. He inspired me to read and I remember how much I love reading. If you go to class every day and do all the assignments, you will get an A+. He is such an amazing man, so much to learn from him and so helpful!

Amazing & passionate prof who is understanding and open-minded. Very easy upper-division course. It's a good idea to read some YA novels beforehand (or keep some in mind) for 11 book reports. Hilarious lectures. Open booknote final. Lots of group work & extra credit opportunities. Class has a big focus on students who intend to become teachers.

STRONGLY pushes Leftist agendas. In-your-face, intolerant of morality. Believes in forcing the most vile stuff on kids - YA readers, for YA Lit - claims concerns to protect kids amounts to "not taking their experiences seriously." Insane. EXTREMELY condescending, but in a creepily blind, not mean, way. Seems like a game show host, not a prof.

Dr B. is AWESOME! I'm so happy I took this class. Assignments: Read 21 YA/MG books + reading log, create a unit design, create a website + presentation on book of choice, super easy final exam. We went on a field trip to Phoenix Book Co., got free books/ARCS, met Tom Leveen, and more! I actually couldn't wait to go to class. Sign up!!

By far the BEST professor I've had. Ever. He believes in all of his students and you'll actually enjoy doing work for his class. Lots of extra credit. Attendance is mandatory, but you'll never want to miss. You can get by without using the book.

I loved Dr. B's class and I am not a teaching focus whatsoever. He loves what he teaches and that makes all the difference. Plus, if you are really looking for an "in" into the writing world look no further because he knows so many people in the writing world it is insane. You can earn enough extra credit to essentially cancel out the final.
