I've taken many courses through Cotter, and he has thoroughly helped me with my career; extremely easy going, and accessible outside of class. He'll talk to you for hours and is a great mentor. His classes are unusually structured, with three non-cumulative exams (and a paper at high levels). Self-discipline is a must, you will fall behind. Read.

This class is all based on three exams, none of which are cumulative. If you study and prepare for the exams, you're fine. If you can do it without even going to class, then props to you. Otherwise, a very intriguing course, and I learned a ton.

Great guy, fun lectures, easy to understand, little reading (but you will need the textbook since he tests from the book but doesn't cover EVERYTHING in class). Exam also include lecture specific material that is not found in the book so you have to show up. HATED being graded on only 3 assignments (2 exams and one final).

On the first day of class he told everyone not to come if they didn't want to, but not to complain about their grade. I mean, I get that it was a large lecture class, but I was disappointed that he seemed to not care at all about the people that attended. Overall, he was funny, I did well in the class, but I've had better professors at Morris.

This was an awesome class! Cotter is both funny and extremely knowledgeable, and he's very approachable and accommodating. Study for the tests and you'll get an A. One of the few classes I looked forward to each day!

Jimmy Cotter - crazy, lovable, crazy, funny. He is such a smart man, but he knows how to get on the same level as his students! Just study the practice tests religiously, and you'll do fine! I got 100% on the final! TAKE HIS CLASS.

He rocks - ha! I took him over 20 years ago and he was so funny then and I hear he is great now! Take this class - rocks for jocks - you will have fun and learn something in the end. I loved how he shared news and jokes to begin, it was like, "what will he do today" prior to going to class!

Cotter is the funniest/funnest teacher I've ever had. He reminds me of the dinosaur in Toy Story. The grades were based just on 3 tests, so it can be hard if you're not good with tests, but because he curves, I got a 64% B on my first test so I'd say it's a pretty easy grading system. Just go to class and take the practice test, and you're golden

AMAZING PROFESSOR!!! I loved every minute of this class, I actually wanted to go more! He made the topics easy to understand by giving examples that make you laugh and remember. He linked toothpaste and Pennsylvania mountains together, the man is wonderful!

This guy is so funny! I wouldn't skip class just to hear what he says. He's good at conveying his message. I didn't like the way his assigned his papers though. I still got a good grade in the end.
