Comment:

Best professor I ever had. He is very straightforward with his expectations, although he can be very crass and expects a lot from students. Do NOT take his class if you aren't interested in the subject or don't want to work hard. If you wanna learn a lot the. I highly suggest taking him. He is genuine and will do anything to help his students.

He's fair. Grades were: 4 tests and a final, with 2 long write ups. He "collected" HW but in actuality the assignments had little effect on your grade. My grades were: 75, 81, 81, and an easy final which I prob got an A-. A- and B on the cases and I got a B+ for analytical methods...and I learned the most in finance from his class.

This professor was very challenging. Personally speaking, I did not like the way he taught. He is not a bad professor or person; but also made me feel uncomfortable. I did learn. Its a lot of work and you better focus or else! I suggest to not take this class with more than 12 credits on your plate.

It's finance, of course it will be hard. However, he is one of the best. I learned the most in his class. You learn things that you can apply in your career. Take him if you want to be good in your field of work.

The WORST teacher I have ever had. Effort is not reflected by his grade, strictly arithmetical. Cowan is a NASTY man. He will not help you during or outside of class. He brags that he has a ton of money, if so why doesn?t he retire and let someone take over that enjoys teaching. I would HIGHLY recommend taking economics with another professor.

Unless you already have a Ph.D in whatever class he is teaching, you'll never be able to keep up. Speeds through material, you will be lost on day one. And don't ask for help, he will basically tell you you don't belong in his class, let alone the real world.

I took his econ class in the summer. He was a bit difficult to keep up with but the tests were strait forward. If you study and keep up you will do ok. Not the easiest class but he is fair and you will have to work.

This guy knows his stuff, but is a terrible teacher. He does not know how to teach and expects you to know what he's talking about and will ridicule you if you don't understand something. It may seem like he is willing to help but he is very unclear and inconsistent in his methods. Take ENGLANDER if you can.
