Took this class 3 years ago and it is still the hardest class I ever took in college. Textbooks were literally novels you had to read 100+ pages of before EVERY class. Then exams consisted of a 5 paragraph paper based on one tiny little detail in those 100+ pages. Not a single multiple choice question, just one essay per test. That is it.

He's a very knowledgeable teacher, but his voice made me want to fall asleep. But I needed to stay awake because every class was a lecture about one of the 6 questions you will write a five paragraph essay about on the mid-term and final. Also, he loved to do discussions and your participation was your attendance. Also, he gives lots of work.

He gives a lot of quizzes on the readings, but I didnt read a single one and passed them all even getting 100% on some. Started taking attendence due to no one coming to class. Big here project blows. This is not an Easy A class, but not really that hard. He knows what he is talking about and tries to get people interested. 10/10 would take again .

This guy didn't get the memo it's a one credit class at Slippery Rock. You'll get 4x the amount of homework you should, tests are very difficult. There are obscure directions for each assignment. Nice guy and knows what he's doing but not a good teacher in my opinion. Do NOT take this class with him if you don't absolutely have to.

Doctor Hathaway is a brilliant professor who teaches the class very well(to form your own ideas, too,to not simply follow the pack). He will give you all of the help you need- just ask. He's soft-spoken but what he has to say is worth listening to. Do the work, write well, and the rest will follow.

Dr. Hathaway expects a lot, but is not unreasonable. He is very helpful and teaches so you learn the material, and are not likely to walk away without gaining an in- depth look at an issue. He is very knowledgeable and teaches both sides. NOT monotone, just pay attention!

He is a excellent professor. Recognizes good ideas and holds you responsible for bad ones. He will expect you to clarify so don't give a bull crap answer because he will call you out on it. Workload is perfect not too easy or hard. If you are a good critical thinker you should pull a high grade if you do the readings because it is mainly concepts.

Contrary to what others say, Dr. Hathaway is NOT boring and is a great professor. His Environmental Problems course is a lot of work, but it is designed to make students THINK and LEARN (that's why we're in college). I enjoyed the discussions in class and learned more in this class than in many others I have taken.

I do not understand how this guy got a doctorine for teaching. His class requires about 150 pages a week, and 3 quizzes a week, which are all essays. He teaches in a soft voice and is very unclear of what you need to do. The guy dropped the two lowest quizzes, which resulted in everyone's grade dropping significantly!! Avoid HATHAWAY!!!!

Environmental Problems. I wanted to drop the class the first day, but i stuck it out. Lots and lots and lots of reading for this class. Know what your reading because he WILL call on you for discussion questions and/or comments concerning the reading. Tests are extremely hard however he lets you work on the test in groups the second time around.

Seriously sooooo much work. Everything is all essay and half of it doesn't pertain to US or CA. Intensive writing and quizes pretty much every class, and if you don't take good notes your screwed. He's annoying and monotone and talks about his journeys around the world with a pink flamingo...

Very nice man. Teaches in a very soft voice, so sit near the front. The tests are poorly structured and makes them difficult for the wrong reasons. Too much busy work for a 100 level course. I would be friends with the guy, but I would probably never take his class again...ever.

I had him for Environmental Problems. I found this course very challenging and difficult. If you dont mind a difficult course in this type of discipline then he is the one to take. If its just an elective (as it was for me) I would NOT recommend it. Very approachable and a nice guy. Online chapter quizzes, like the tests, very challenging
