He was super scatterbrained throughout his lectures and would ramble on about unnecessary things. This made it very difficult to take notes during his class and study the material afterwards. He only puts in four grades for the semester and doesn't offer extra credit for anyone. Definitely would not take his class again.

I had to take this class for my major, But I feel like the outcome would've been different if I would've had a different professor. I believe Dr. Roberts is the head of the department, But he seems very scatterbrained at times and he gets off-topic a lot. As the semster went on more and more people started to skip the class.

Gets off track a lot but he still manages to get all the information within the lecture. Tests are easy, he'll give out occasional test questions as an incentive to attend lectures

Dr. Roberts made this class entertaining and stimulating. I found the class difficult, but he really knows his stuff and his enthusiasm helps make it more fun to learn the history of film. There are only 2 tests then the final, but the film responses helped my grade a lot.

He seems like a cool dude outside of class, but when it comes to Film Theory & Criticism, he has a strong tendency to go off topic quickly and often. He's a difficult grader on discussion posts and expects a lot. His syllabus says attendance is mandatory yet never takes attendance ever. Lastly - he can be quite pretentious at times on his views.

He will teach one class a week, and his TA will teach the other. Attendance is MANDATORY to pass in breakout, not not lecture. Test are hard but he does release 20 test questions before the exam. My TA graded very harshly i had to work and do tons of Extra Credit to receive an A

His lectures are easy to follow, and you watch a lot of videos. He gives extra credit at random, takes attendance and it goes toward your grade. Like the day after the test a lot of people didn't show up, he took attendance and those who came got 4 points toward their exam. Gives 23 of test ?'s before test to study. Take him

Roberts was super easy. If you go to his lectures and listen, you should pass the class. He has a one question quiz every week, the question usually comes from the previous lecture, so it's super easy. You don't use the book at all. 23 test questions are given to you a week before the test and you can find the answers in the notes. Easy A!

I skipped almost all the classes and ended up with an A+. All grades come from breakout session with a TA. I had no interest in this class. You'll have projects, tests. He gives you the test questions and the questions on the final too

If you have to take this class as a core requirement, you should definitely take it with him. He posts his notes online, communicates using twitter, and gives you the exam questions before the test. Doesn't get simpler than him. Take him! He's funny, and a really chill teacher

He's a great lecturer, but the breakout sections and heavy weight on participation is not fun. Unless you're big on discussion or a film major/minor, I would recommend taking a different elective. Most of the movies are boring and half of them are in a different language. You have to use twitter in his class to keep up, which sucked cus I hate it.

He is NOT funny but he tries really hard to be. He often gets out of topic & tries to appeal to his audience that has fallen asleep. The good thing is that the test include almost everything he goes over and that going to his lecture is not necessary. He is NOT funny or cool.

He's SUUUUPER talkative, but really kind. He gives you the answers for the test in advance, so you can study, but tests are only like 10% each.2 projects and 2 exams and participation which was worth like 35%. The class subject is rather boring, but he somewhat makes it fun. The movies you watch in class are silent until like the midpoint....

Such an easy class. Sure he rambles but it's usually about films, so if you have any interest in film at all (And I don't mean you thought Avengers was cool, like, you actually care about films), then it's interesting at the very least. And he has study guides so you have no excuse to do badly. Easy A. Counts for graduation. Done deal.

Dr.Roberts is that guy. He will actually make you look at film in a different perspective. People will complain about him rambling but if you pay attention he is educating you. He is a cool dude. The tests are too easy and its hard to fail. Lectures are not mandatory and neither is the book. Go learn something with him def #1 professor
