This was the first class she didn't teach in Unix. I'd love to use Unix - IF WE WERE EVER TAUGHT IT FIRST! She's much more understandable now. Her slide shows are still deathly boring, but she added a lot more lecture that was very good. A class I started out dreading, turned out to be one of my best at SCSU.

I HAVE NEVER TAKEN A COMPUTER CLASS AT SCSU THAT I ENJOYED. THE COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT HERE WILL MAKE YOU HATE COMPUTERS. Joan Parikh is a perfect example of this.

Come prepared to teach yourself. There is almost a wall between her and the students. She doesn't have a clue what you are talking about and you dont know what she is talking about. Tests have questions on topics never covered. Most people get around a 45 on tests, thankfully she curves a lot. Projects are very very hard.

She is a horrible teacher, there is a slim chance you will get anything of value from her lectures. Unfortunaltely she is the only one that teaches several classes that you need. Even if you have perfect hearing you will have difficulties hearing anything she says.
