Professor Schneider is a good teacher. She can be overly critical in her assessment of your writing. If you love history, you'll be fine. Otherwise, I'd look for another professor.

For a FYS class, she gives a lot of work but ultimately I actually enjoyed how she pushed to make me a better writer and understand the important concepts one is supposed to in this class. Unfortunately we had to read 4 books and write an 8 page paper on top of 30 pg reading articles. If you are looking for an easy Breezy class this isnt it.

A very knowledgeable and kind professor. However, the workload is far too much for a 100 level course. Shes willing to help you out but theres a ton of readings and worksheets. Her syllabus is overbearing. A good amount of students missed big assignments. A good class, but you CANNOT coast.

Not a bad professor but you will be working for your grade. This is not a class that you can coast by in. She has multiple books that she has you read for discussions and theses books will be on the tests. My class had 6 textbooks. Papers are graded tough, so don't expect an easy A, a B is an A for this class

I am currently taking her Europe in the 20th Century class. Be ready to read A LOT! You are responsible to look at the syllabus she WILL NOT give you a reminder for when things may be due. Her lectures are very dense with information and I enjoy that she makes us sit in a circle cause it allows the lectures to seem personally.

Joanne is a lovely woman, who absolutely loves her students and history. I learned so much from her and I loved the class. She will overwhelm you at first, so stick out the first two weeks. It does get easier, and she is always available for help. There is a lot of homework, but it counts for credit. Two papers, 3 exams, 1 map, and homework.

I learned more in this one class about writing and research than I have in all of my other history classes at RIC. There is a decent amount of work involved but as long as your willing to put forward a little effort you will have no problem with the class. Go to class, do the readings, and keep up with the pace of the class and you will do well.

She's a really nice person, however gives way too much work for a seminar course. Papers are at least 6 pages long to 8. Interesting class, but wouldn't suggest anyone without much free time to take it truthfully.

Schneider is not nearly as bad as History students make her out to be. I was really dreading taking her class, but found it to be one of the best classes I've ever taken. If you put forth good effort, and do what she asks, you'll get a decent grade. She'll even have two meetings with you to help you with your research paper.

Well Written & True AVOID her for HIST 200. There are other professors that will not treat a 200 level course as a Master's dissertation. Yes, she is very smart and helpful. She is also impossible to please. It is hard to believe a class can fit in the room with the size of her ego. I wouldn't recommend this professor for this course.

The class wasn't as hard as people made it seem. You just need to keep up with the readings and put a lot of effort into the assignments. Don't be afraid to ask for help! Prof. Schneider is a very nice if you take the time to get to know her outside of class.

Very helpful professor. Though it felt like the lectures just dragged on some days when you just wanted to get out of there,I can honestly say that I have learned more in this class than any other i have taken. She is incredibly knowledgeable, and when I forgot a project at home, she let me bring it to her the next day with no problem. Two thumbs up

Great professor. The class is harder than expected if you're a sophomore like i was. In hindsight it wasn't that hard, the class and Schneider just psych you out a little into thinking it'll be impossible. She is incredibly helpful if you need it and is very clear in her expectations from assignments. Loved her as a person and anyone's crazy not to

I signed up for a graduate class on the Reformation. The undergrads had a 20 page paper due. She said graduates had to submit a 40 page paper. She also sai I had to do a 30 page book review. That is ridiculous. No book review is that long. I walked out at the break of the first class.

If you really want to learn a lot about history, take her class. The work load is over the top, but worth it. Maybe the hardest I have ever worked to get an A. Too much reading, too many papers, too much work! But worth all of it!!!
