Comment:

Prof. Alfano gives a short 1 to 3 question quiz every Friday. This helped me to stay on track. There's a short homework assignment after almost every class. He always goes over homework the next class. He is VERY helpful in office hours. Exams are usually straight-forward but can have one or two tricky questions sometimes.

Nice guy, i would suggest taking if you arent great at math. Online homework, easy quizzes (3 questions) and 3 exams. He NEVER passes the exams back when he says he will. He will ask people to help out with the problem he's doing on the board but wont randomly call on you. overall not a bad class.

have had him for multiple classes. you could have the same answer as someone else but get completely different grades. not helpful in office he only explains things one way. horrible feedback so you have no idea what your doing right/wrong and cant adjust which is important in math. i literally taught myself everything, learned nothing from him

Had him for Calculus my Sophomore year. Didn't do anything related to Calculus. We worked on a webpage that centered on a historical mathematics pioneer the whole year. Complete waste of time. Ane Joe Alfano is a space cadet. I think he lives in his office.

He is an excellent teacher. If you do not understand a concept or problem he is very accommodating and will go out of his way to help you. But you do need to ask for the help. Put effort into your homework too, he grades it from time to time.

I'm a math major, but if you dont like math he is extremely easy to understand. He makes sure you understand all the topics discussed in class and will go over things until you get it. Very easy to talk to and always available for you if you need help. Definitely recommended and one of my favorite professors.

Excellent!!! Very clear and his greatest emphasis is on the students understanding what he is teaching. Always makes time for questions and goes above and beyond to assist students in understanding the material. Provides excellent course outlines and the assignments provide an overall perspective of the logic applied to the discipline.
