As everyone else has said on here, Joe is not an easy grader. Don't take this class if you expect an easy A. But if you want on of the most genuinely great professors who is passionate about what he does, take any class with him. He's hilarious and makes class fun, which is incredibly rare in any teacher nowadays.

Joe is a rare professor in this age of those professors in "higher education" whose goal is only to 'tell you what to think' instead of learning how to think for yourself. He was extremely challenging in the best way possible.

No other Professor has such command of the English language, knows how to teach, and is funny. Not an easy grader, but he gives you chances to resubmit papers after he smeared it with red ink. Additionally sometimes he gets off topic and runs a tangent until class is over: feel lucky you just learned something valuable if you were listening.

I am a very good writer, and I have never been challenged to do a better job at it. I have received awards for my writing, and have gotten requests from professors to use my written assignments as class examples. I had Joe, and he challenged me. At first I was pissed off by all the red ink, but now my writing is better, and I thank him for it now.

I took Joe's speech class. I loved it. If there is anyone who can make you feel comfortable speaking in front of people it's Joe. He is a very sensitive guy with lots of knowledge. He is very friendly and constantly joking with you. He has such an amazing sense of humor and is really laid back. He has many jobs and I think makes a lot of money but dresses so plain. That says a lot about someone. He is a very down to earth man and a pleasure to have as a teacher

I wouldn't take a class with this guy unless you plan to major in English. He is more difficult than some of the other teachers and he will give more work. As a result you will probably learn more from him while being entertained. His classes are stressful if you dislike English classes.
