Comment:
I have had Carrier a total of three classes now. My best advice is to pay attention, take notes on what he talks about that aren't on the slides, and engage in the conversations he brings. He does not like it when students do not take notes. He usually posts the powerpoints on D2L. If you need help on papers or have further questions he is great.

He is hilarious but the only thing he does is read off of the slides that he downloads from Pearson. He doesn't really teach he just reads. He skips chapters, generates tests from randomizer made by Pearson. The only grades in the class are the tests. The test average is always in the 60%'s. And he wont round up.

Honestly been online with Columbia College for 3 years, this by far the worst teacher ever. This dude have no clue what he is doing.. he'll give you a syllabus that he doesn't even follow. His grading system is way different then what the syllabus requires. And he even won't tell you that until you get your grades and question them.

The professor is useless. It seems like his goal is to do as little work as possible. He is spectacularly out of the loop, condescending and plays favorites. He doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner, grade in a timely manner and his interactions are the bare minimum. You'll learn more from your classmates.

Was never involved with discussion. Zero to little feedback on papers. Stay away from this guy. You will not learn from him, just the texts.

His test are literally unreasonable. You have to memorize the whole book to get even close to a good grade.

Prof Carrier is by far the worst teacher that I have had at Columbia. He did not participate in class and when he did it was one line responses. It is hard to believe that he is part of this learning establishment.

Mr. Carrier is a very entertaining instructor. I do find that he tends to breeze through lecture a bit too quickly, but all in all the class is interesting and engaging. He is on the opinionated side, but does explain and justify his opinions. Definitely not a liberal, so if you are offended by constitutionalists, avoid this instructor.

Didn't care for his teaching style or his demeanor, almost as if we were all idiots and he was the only one that knows anything.

Forget about an outline study guide for your midterm...how about you just study each chapter and memorize it. Don't forget to learn the bold and italics and be able to recite your answers...no mulitple choice!

Of all my teachers, Dr. Carrier was my second favorite. He was always available for questions in his office, he was open to qestions in class. His tests were challenging, but they always covered material we had discussed in class (plus other cases from the text). I enjoyed this class and this teacher very much, and I look forward to having him agai

he is very irrogant. he believes that what he says is gold, and no one elses opinion matters. He grades very randomly and will not accept any questions regarding this. tests are hard, and he loves it. embarasses students for fun.

This guy slaps grades on paper without any justification... Tests are generated from random questions in the chapters... No plausible way to study except memorize the book
