Comment:

Solid dude. He made physics easy to understand and actually enjoyable. Pretty good amount of work (HW, labs, etc). Allowed to use a notecard on quizzes and a full 8x11 sheet front and back on exams. The only thing I did not like was that exams were weighted pretty heavily. (midterm + final were 50% of the grade). Still strongly recommend.

If you're taking this for GE credits do yourself a favor a just take chem or environmental science. His lectures and explanations are confusing and so is the wording in his quizzes and exams.

Joe's lectures are very engaging. He seriously makes you excited about physics. There are weekly quizzes, but they aren't hard at all if you study and understand the basic concepts of what was covered.

Joe is an amazing teacher, he makes lectures fun and engaging. He provided opportunities for extra credit and is super clear on what he expects. He also has a great webpage with videos and practice quizzes. He is super passionate and hilarious and does magic tricks during lecture. If you are curious about physics take joes class

Approachable and willing to help. Homework due every week, which should give one week to complete but you'll be covering 50% of the homework concepts the day before with a PLC due around the same time and a quiz to review for. The Math in the class is simple, and Joe did an adequate job explaining the concepts. Time management important.

GREAT professor. Class was easy to follow, and entertaining to attend. There are weekly quizzes, but they're easy, and a lot of the questions come out of homework and from the packets he gives out in class. (He even lets you have cheat sheets.) Participation matters; don't skip class/labs, or you'll get dropped.

Great teacher! Makes physics a lot of fun! He's goofy and cracks jokes, but says what he needs to say during lecture. He will answer ANY questions you have during, and outside of class. The labs are pretty straight forward and fun. I would definitely recommend taking one of Joe's classes!

Joe is by far the best teacher I've had at Cabrillo! He's super funny & friendly, not to mention very helpful. Charismatic and fun, he makes the class super enjoyable. If you attend class and study, you will do well. He doesn't pull any punches. YOU'RE AWESOME JOE!

Joe is an excellent instructor. Lectures are meticulously thought out and organized with interactive breaks about every 15 min. Subject matter can be confusing but he explains things very clearly and thoroughly and will not hesitate to help you if you are confused.

Joe is the best physics teacher at Cabrillo by far! Extremely helpful, clear about what he expects, hw load isn't too bad, and he's really entertaining :) Labs are worth a lot of points so don't slack! The 2 mid-terms were harder than I thought they would be but not unreasonable.

Fun class with a good teacher. My only criticism is he would change the info on the labs after posting them online but prior to class, without warning. It's nice to prep for lab to make sure there is enough time to finish, but pointless to prep when he changes the labs!

Joe was a fun teacher. I actually love math but a whole class devoted to word problems really seemed to be a bit daunting and Joe not only made the subject interesting but taught really well in general. He teaches accelerated learning stuff at the beginning. SERIOUSLY use this knowledge. I did all semester and it made such a huge difference..

Wonderful teacher. Has done research on how to be a better teacher. Wants his students to succeed. Makes his tests quite like his examples and midterm reviews. Tests are of a good length and he is a fair grader. I recommend highly.

Joe is a superb teacher. Even if your not that into physics I can't imagine someone being bored with his teaching. If you utilize all the resources he provides (which is a lot) there is no excuse to do poorly in this class.

He skipped a few things, however, for what he did cover, he did an excellent job. Would recommend him to somebody who would like to really LEARN physics.
