Musto is a great lecturer and a terrible person. In class he goes out of his way to be mean to students who are sleeping/texting which can be funny if you aren't on the receiving end. Incredibly harsh grader, whatever grade you expect, your real grade will be 15% lower

Fantastic lectures, but not a nice person and the hardest grader I've ever had for any class. Avoid at all costs.

Many times i have other students complained to me about Musto after class about their grades, these are the same people who sleep during lecture and slack off on other classes. The students who i have seen take their classes seriously, do homework when it is assigned and not the night before the exam typically enjoy this class.

Exam questions are nothing like the homework although he would claim otherwise . Very rude specially if he feels like you want to argue with him about your grade. It is just not worth it to go through all of this when you can take the class with someone else.

Dr. Musto is extremely unprofessional. He stops class and yells at students (for sleeping, being on their or anything he doesn't like) in the middle of class. He is not helpful in office hours and very rude. Some students claim he demands respect but he is very disrespectful towards his students. The only grades in the class are test grades.

Very disrespectful to his students. Comments made on tests and project reports were extremely unprofessional. If it weren't for the 30% curves on the tests, the few remaining students who didn't drop the class probably wouldn't have passed. I was too afraid of him to seek help and had to consult my academic advisor for help with homework.

His attitude toward students is disrespectful and unprofessional. His answers to any student's questions were either vague and unhelpful, or blunt and rude. There is a quiz EVERY DAY, and they're not easy. My class started with about 28 students, and by the last week there were 7 left. Avoid taking him as a professor if at all possible.

He graded more on formatting and writing style than report content on the class projects, which that is an analytically driven machine component design class does not reflect the course content. He further berated a project group in front of the entire class in a way that was exceptionally unprofessional. I lost all respect for him as a person.

The absolute hardest class I have ever taken, mainly due to the vagueness of the class assignment. That being said I have never learned more from any class. If you can dedicate 10+ hours a week, it is well worth the large effort required.

As terrified as I was to start taking him, I wouldn't think twice now. He demands respect, makes you work for your grades, won't just GIVE you anything. If you try, and show that, he will HELP. I actually really enjoyed this class. At the beginning of the quarter I didn't want to ever have him again, but now I'm considering taking him for ME 190. He is very intelligent and is good at teaching what he knows. He is there to help, but don't expect a lot of it. He wants you to be able to do things and figure things out by yourself.

Dr. Musto is an exceptional professor. He is tough to work for, and is a very hard grader. Also, he does not tolerate laziness or inattentiveness. That said, he KNOWS what he teaches, and he knows how to convey that knowledge to his students. Take him whenever possible.

Had him for ME 1601 and ME 190. Outstanding professor. He has no tolerance for students that arent dedicated to learning. If you are a student that has not grown up and wants to coast through school, do not take his class. If you want an excellent professor and actually learn the material, I would highly reccommend him.
