Joel is easily one of the best professors here. Period. The man takes the abstract or technical and makes it engaging and fun. Where other professors seem to fail to understand that incoming CS students are often intimidated by the details, Joel embraces this and through his lectures helps you not just learn the subject but embrace learning itself.

Joel is the beating heart of the UM computer science department for a good reason, the man's knowledge and expertise are second to none. This is surprisingly coupled with an innate talent at teaching what are often technical and (at times) abstract architectural concepts in a way that is both fun and engaging. Attend EVERY lecture.

This man IS the CS department at the University of Montana. He was the best professor I had while getting my B.S. at the U of M. He still ranks as one of the best professors I've had.

Exceptionally brilliant professor who is easy to talk to. He has a lot of real world experiance that he brings into his lectures. This really helps ground some difficult concepts. His avid interest in homebrewed beer always makes for interesting assignments. Best Professor I have ever had the pleasure of learning from.

This guy is absolutely an awesome professor. He has "real life" experience and applies it in the class room. I had him for graduate courses and he was the best. I'd recommend taking him over anyone else. Keep up the great job Dr. Henry!
