Don't take him if you love yourself. His papers are ridiculously hard and do not have clear guidelines. his lectures are super boring. although his test are take home, most of the questions are personal opinion and if you don't share his opinion you're wrong. This is the first core class at King's that I've taken and did not enjoy.

I was told to take him. I guess it was a sick joke. Class was dreadful. He is a hard grader on papers. Avoid Avoid Avoid... You are better off with Thomson she's a nice lady. One of those kinds of profs that thinks their CORE class is going to save the world.

Class gets really boring, but it's a decent class. Stay on top of the readings and take good notes. Only couple quizzes and final exams make the grades so not many points. Hard essay grader. Participate in class for extra credit.

Dr. Shuman is very intimidating at first, but he is such a nice guy when you actually get to know him. He has compassion and he truly cares about his students. He is very intelligent and effectively presents the information to his students. Bioethics was one of my favorite classes because of him. He is fairly easy. Highly recommended.
