It's been a few years since I took CSC101 and CSC103 with Mr. Alampi. Still one of the toughest and best professors I ever had. Now I can say that his coursework has made me more successful in my career. The journey through data structures was meticulous. Thank you Mr. Alampi.

Extremely difficult teacher. He treats his class like its the work place. I got a B+ where most profs I would've had an A. He expects alot and def grades hard. This was an intro class that I expected to breeze by, but Alampi gave me more than I asked for which was good. He is a GREAT teacher, not a pushover. Take him if you can handle the pressure

Alampi is the worst teacher ever.Barry Walker looks good next to him & hes horrible) Alampi is full of himself, doesnt understand the natural human thirst for knowledge. We want to learn, that's why we are here, but we dont want ridiculous grading. Doing A+ work all semester and end up with a D, what sense does that make??Avoid him at all costs!

Critical. Very quick to deduct points, and makes you work to earn them. But when youre trying to become a professional in these fields, can you ask for any less? A bit quirky in his ways, but he returns respect if he recieves it. And if he sees that you're honestly trying. If you stick to it, you'll come out of his class really knowing your stuff.

People saying he is a good teacher are wrong, do not take any course with him. He is arrogant, yet constantly makes mistakes. He is the only professor I have ever had that does not allow questions to be asked on exams. His 101 course is more work than differential equations, organic chemistry etc. at the university level for no reason.

Arbitrary and pedantic, but you will really know the material when you are done. He is very fond of marking grades down for little reason, but is willing to review if you have a good reason AND supporting evidence. Sadly his class notes are often riddled with punctuation & spelling errors but he is ruthless about dropping a lot of points for yours.

he makes an easy topic complicated and his grading system is unfair. does not help at all. he talks a lot of non-sense crap. too much work. he's out of his mind!

His grading is terrible. Everything has to be exactly right or it is completely wrong. He does not teach. He plays a video of himself teaching. The video plays while he sits at his desk and pauses it periodically. He had a video for every single lesson and class. His little videos are not clear and hard to pay attention to. Gives to much lab work.

Awesome professor. You will know the subject well enough to compete at the best schools. His style is clear and transparent. He breaks data structures down to the finest detail and builds them up so you can understand. Still uses the old text you can buy on Amazon for $2.00. You have to be good because a B in his class is like an A anywhere else.

GREAT PROFESSOR! Mr. Alampi, while strict, does this for a reason. He is very logical, but likes to test YOUR logic. You just have to handle him like a computer and give him exactly what he wants when he asks for it :) He helped me become a better student.

Teaches well but class is structured so that comprehension does not guarantee a good grade. Very needy. Grades how he wants regardless of whether he is correct. Trick questions on exams. He gives project specs in comic sans font and writes all code in notepad.

Probably one of the best professor in the Computer Science department. Alampi really cares about his students and is always willing to help. The class is extremely difficult and requires a lot of work but it is rewarding. I barely knew any java before taking this class, now i know a lot.

I have never worked so hard in a class and still got a D. This class was not at all what I expected, and it was a ton of work for being a 110 course. Alampi rambles on and on about things, and when you question him, he tells you that you are wrong...even if you have proof that you are right. This guy is crazy.

Hardest teacher of all my classes. Even if your work is perfect, he will find a reason to take off even 30% worth of points for nothing. That's his fun part of the teaching. He explains good and knows what he is talking about. If you think you are tough, test yourself taking his class. VERY NOT FAIR GRADING. NO PARTIAL POINTS!!! BAD BAD BAD

Any professor that tells you that you are "technically correct," but then proceeds to take points away is lousy. I was always prepared for this class, but never knew exactly how well I would do - some very arbitrary grading decisions can wreak havoc on your grades. I am now a very accomplished developer, and this professor was the least "realistic"

When I walked in for the first class, he told us that it took normal students 2 or 3 runs to pass the class. I don't want a pre-rec course to take me 3 semesters! Our 2 hr labs lasted 40 mins, and I could never get help. Lots of HW, Labs, Projects, with no time! He put 2 weeks of material into 20 mins.NOT GOOD! Councelers say it was "Alampi Land

Professor Alampi is one of the most hard working and dedicated teachers I have ever met. He teaches with a twinkle in his eye. He totally overhauled this course and it is now an internet hybrid with all his lectures recorded. Topic coverage is very thorough. It's a tough course. If you pass, you can be confident in your skills. Take no other!

My experiences found Professor Alampi to be strict, fair and knowledgeable. He works as hard as he expects his students to and has a passion for his profession. I feel as though I have a deeper understanding of the subject he taught than other students who took the same class with a different professor.
