Mr. Allison was obviously intelligent and ALSO Human!! if i made a mistake he told me how to fix it and how to avoid it in the future I was his student. he was my professor and he acted accordingly. he didn't avoid me or refuse to ask my questions. i am now quite aware of fascism/possible police state. his emphasis on totalitarianism opened my eyes

All these people that are complaining just aren't ready for college level literature. Mr. Allison is probably the best American lit professor at UA, and you really have to be stupid not to understand what he is talking about. Everything is broken down into detail, and he seems to be an expert on what he teaches. I would take him again.

extremely smart & knows about the subject matter. tells stories about writers he has met & info that isn't in the book. exams a bit difficult, unclear what to study. gives an EASY 3 question quiz most class days on the reading assignment. class can be boring but he DOES like class discussions and likes to hear what you think the poems mean.

He was useless. No class discussion. Boring. HARD grader. I missed a day of class and had an excuse...we had a quiz that day and he wouldn't let me make it up. American lit is really interesting, but this teacher made me want to shoot myself in the foot. DO NOT TAKE HIM. He never answers e-mails. He is mean and rude.

Fantastic teacher. Clearly defines what is expected and sticks to it. Go to class, take notes, study the notes you take and you'll come out of there with an easy A. I recommend this teacher to all!

I had surgery and missed two classes during which he gave two pop quizzes. He wouldn't let me make them up and so I just have zeros. Zeros don't average in well. I am sure that he is a nice man, but I did not care for him as a teacher.

Excellent teacher. His papers and tests are fair and even easy if you read the material and take notes. Great reading voice. He can actually help you understand Wallace Stevens! Knows Southern lit like the back of his hand. I wish I could take him every semester. Too bad he only teaches lower level classes. Do not miss a chance to take his class!
