Prof. Simpson is a brilliant, powerful, and knowledgeable professor, the first two weeks are the hardest ones, expect lots of homework and a quiz every week. DO NOT DROP it you get use to it, and you can always go to her office and ask for help.

I do NOT recommend taking that class. She talks about how she is from Canada about 2 times a class. She is a s strong feminist and talks bad about men. The reading analysis that she makes us do every week are horrible and take hours to do. I ended up dropping the class before even the first exam. Also brings up stuff that make you uncomfortable.

as soon as I walk through the door, I already want to leave. I hate this class with a passion just as much as she talks about Canada. strong feminist, degrades men, once ( or 8 ) times a class says "I am from British Columbia so.." the reading analysis that are due every week are absolute hell and make me want to rip my eyes out

Absolutely awful! Expects you to just know what you are doing! She refuses to help you and will judge you on how you are dressed but will not dress professionally at all. Hate her and her class! If this isn't a requirement for you to graduate I would not recommend taking it. Expects WAAAAYYYY too much for a 100 level class

Overall not a terrible teacher but is a very strong feminist and often will base her lectures around her beliefs as one. Pretty clear grading structure but is very strict about deadlines and will not accept work after it is due. Reasonable with grading as long as there was clearly some effort put into the assignment.

She is inspirational to me because she is a strong feminist. She emphasizes how our society is influenced by gender and how amazing men and women are while acknowledging challenges both face. She calls out white privilege and encourages us to fight back in any way we can (esp when we won't get in trouble bc we are white). Get ready to study & test.

Awful, very rude, only talks about Canada and bashes on America. Strong feminist, and not in the good way, believes women should be above men in all aspects of life. Example, she refuses to cook because she thinks it "is degrading to women". Quiz every week (multiple choice), reading analysis (comes from hell), and the most boring lectures ever.

Lectures aren't very good as she goes on many tangents. Do the practice quizzes on kodiak and you'll be prepared for the weekly quiz. A short paper is due every week so be prepared for a lot of work. They're tough at first but get easier as the semester goes on. She uses rubrics for everything she grades so it's very clear. Nice if you talk 1 on 1.

Simpson tells you first day that you will not succeed in her class. She laughs at the idea that she fails 25% of students. She fails to return emails when you ask for help. She insists grad school is our only option and degrades those who don't want to go. And do not expect to get anything back in a timely fashion. All busy work, DO NOT TAKE HER.

She is power hungry, she knows she has the power to fail you senior year and will do so. DO NOT TAKE HER! She is incredibly rude, expects way to much of her students and is just flat out the worst teacher i have ever had to experience. I tried taking this class elsewhere but i couldn't.

She is an amazing teacher that always keeps her students engaged! In no way is she a mean person, she will give you the grade you deserve! Some may consider her "rude" but that is only if they do not put in effort, which is obviously the student's fault. She has a passion for the subject that I have not seen in anyone else. GREAT TEACHER!!!!

She is a pretty hard teacher. Lots of reading analysis'. Quizzes every monday. She can be very helpful if you go to her. She is nice but very hard. She does not teach from the textbook, only lectures partially. She does give review sessions other than class time to go over textbook.

Disappointed by the good reviews my advisor gave her... am a freshman and was mortified by her inability to accept others. The class was a power struggle for Simpson and was not enjoyable. Book use was low but clarity as well. Knowledgeable, but not an ideal teacher.

Research methods - she uses computer labs to teach statistical analysis (way more fun than the stats class!) There is a lot of work, but it is broken down into small assignments. There is a big paper - but you get to pick your own topic. This is the class that got me into grad school in criminal justice. Highly recommend Simpson

Dr. Simpson is a great teacher, and really knows what she's talking about...as long as you read and do the work, you'll do fine..it's not a joke class, you actually have to put the time and effort into studying.
