You cannot get a good grade in this class by winging it. Essay answers and topics pop up randomly during lecture. You have to pay attention to catch them. 1. Get started on your comp book early. 2. Use the study tools he gives you. 3. Do the extra credit. These will save your grade. He is very approachable and laid back.

Extremely well versed in the topic just too much information on exam with so little teaching. This class will require easily 3-4 hours of study time after each lecture if not more.

It's canoeing and kayaking. ALL equipment is provided so you don't have to spend money for it(kayak, paddles, life preserver). Get the hours required on the river for the credit. You meet out there, kayak, and then he returns you to the drop off point where you left your vehicle. You need to know how to paddle and swim.

Dr. Bartlett is by far one of my favorite professors. I took zoology and the class is relatively difficult because of the large amounts of information you have to learn, but he makes it doable. Bartlett loves extra credit and treats everyone like a friend instead of a student. He's open to help and is beyond passionate about what he teaches. Great!

Very compassionate professor. Tests are easy as long as you do the practice tests he provides prior to your exams. Do your HW and pay attention in lab. Lab TAs are hit and miss with their helpfulness. He's funny and can come off as aloof, but he's not. He's a very intelligent and cares about his students. No papers, participation matters.

Crazy/Funny guy. He is very distracted and mostly tells stories in lecture instead of teaching. His tests are from old tests (which you can get from him) and from his PowerPoints that he puts on blackboard. There's a running project & a lot of HW that is very time-consuming, but easy. He makes it very clear what is on the test. He's helpful. 11/10

He is a bit disorganized, but study old tests and you should be fine. Do not wait to the last minute to study for practicals! He is so fun to learn from on his farm and has a host of funny crazy experiences to share. You put in the effort and show you care, and you will do fine and he will help you if you talk to him!! Approachable for sure!!

If you want to do well, you need to get the tests early and I also recommend going to the museum early before the semester gets too stressful. If you don't get a relationship with him, then I can see why one wouldn't like him. Go to his farm help to castrate the piglets and you can get to know him well there because it less people.

He's extremely extra when it comes to assignments and tests. The online homework and compbook are easy but excessive, for the practicals you have to learn 20 frog songs and 50 bird songs, and the only way to pass the tests is to study and fill out at least 5 old exams and hope he doesn't change much. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

The textbook and online homework are so pointless. The only way to receive a good grade in this class is by getting old tests and memorize everything on old tests and hope he does not change to much of it on the new test. Memorize everything on practicals before the frog and bird sound ones. DON'T WAIT TIL LAST MINUTE FOR COMP. BOOK!

Waste of time. He gives you tons of things to do, all worth very little credit in the long run. The comp book is pointless and takes forever, the bug board is a waste of time, and the only way to pass his tests are to memorize old ones. Oh, and the bird and frog practicals are annoying. Enjoy learning 50 frog calls and 50 bird calls for no reason.

... This is a typical case study in a teacher that has no sane comprehension of the concept of OTHER CLASSES. The workload he assigns is absurd. We are in exam week and we have a 220 question final, a pig project that wasn't explained whatsoever and was botched on his part, and lab practicals that force you to memorize 50 bird and 50 frog songs...

Along with unreasonable amounts of work, Dr. B thinks it is okay to tell our class that we have to come back to campus a week and a half after second semester finals are over to turn in our projects because he didn't a lot enough time in the semester for all of the things he wanted to cover in the class. Would take other Zoo professor - Depaolo...

Amount of work given in this class is unreasonable. I realize that this is college and classes will be difficult, but it is currently the last week and a half of spring semester and we have 2 practicals left to take, a big pig project, & a 220 question final left to study for. Going to class is pointless but he takes off points for absences

Bartlett is a terrible teacher. Nothing he says in class is related to Zoology. The only way you can prepare for his tests is by studying old tests. His tests are mostly essays and free response answers and his final exam is 220 questions long. I hate this class and would not recommend him to anyone.

If you want to do well you need to do your homework. You don't have to read to do well on the homework since you can answer questions until you get your desired grade. His lectures almost never have to do with the homework and you watch videos A LOT! He gives you all the exam questions and answers and your essay questions are lists from the videos

Was forced to take a zoology class with him. It was the worst class I have ever taken in all my years of college. He doesn't actually teach during class. I've learned more about his sexual preferences and habits than I did about any animal. His tests are pages long, and the only way to pass them is to take his past tests, so with studying you fail.

Dr. Bartlett is a nice guy for the most part. But he is just so unorganized, changes his teachings a lot, and is not consistent. You don't actually learn anything in class so attention is pointless but mandatory. He is helpful, but often times forgets that he told you that answer that he later mamarked as wrong.

I was excited to take an animal-oriented class, but I ended up very disappointed. The class is not only way harder than it needs to be, it is extremely disorganized as well. The only hope you have of passing any of the exams is to do the practice exams, which are only available at SI sessions. Studying the lecture material alone won't save you.

Dr. Bartlett makes every class interesting; he tells hilarious stories related to each topic, and class is always enjoyable. The tests are difficult, but he allows students to take old tests, which help a lot.
