I had no idea of what the concept of bad actually meant until I took John Bavaro's "Digital Drawing and Painting" class. He doesn't teach at all and his critiques are complete and utter garbage when he even gives them, but then he hands out Ds and Fs as if he was the best teacher there. He is a jealous and bitter man with an ego like no other.

Absolutely no instruction on program use, very little discussion of actual color theory. I just completed a project assigned about a week ago, and he just came over and said it was wrong. No redirection, no criticism, just wrong. It's hard to understand his instructions, and there's no reliable class schedule or curriculum.

At first I enjoyed Bavaro, but now I see what my friends mean why they don't like him. I turned in all assignments and had A's on them but received a C+ as my final grade. I was absent for being sick and having a meeting, but I let him know in advance. Bavaro can't teach but tries to help. He also had a coma I think, so you must be patient with him

Digital Drawing and Painting has absolutely no structure at all. Bavaro is constantly on his phone/talking with his mouth full while "teaching" and creates an inappropriate and unprofessional environment. He doesn't teach anything program wise and rarely holds in-class critiques. No solid syllabus is offered and due dates are constantly changing.

Had him for digital painting, and learned absolutely nothing. By far the worst art teacher I've had since I've been here. The only thing that he gives you for advice or criticism is "that looks cool" and horribly vague unhelpful jibberish.

Gallery Management- He made this class a lot of fun, I learned so much and it truly was one of my favorite classes I've ever taken. Bavaro is such a nice guy and helpful, a little unorganized at times. But he just has a lot on his plate. A privilege to take this class with him. You have to do a lot of work, but you get a lot out of it.

i have taken several different classes by bavaro. he is a teacher who cares, and will help you in whatever you need. he may be a little crazy, but that is what makes him fun, and every class is something new. he is fair in what he expects out of you as an artist, he wants you to care and want to learn. he helped me rediscover why i love drawing.

I had Professor Bavaro for two classes, drawing 2 and painting 1. I had a good knowledge of both subjects before I took his classes, but he expanded my abilities more than I thought possible. He was encouraging but wanted things done his way. It's tough to adapt to a different style but trying something new really expanded my skill.
