Tough on papers, but easy on exams if you've read the book. Our midterm exam was actually open book. There's also a 10-page research paper that is tougher than in Composition II class. I'd recommend him if you're an English major (i'm not) AND interested in BritLit.

Best professor I've ever encountered. He loves what he does and is deeply knowledgeable while still being able to retain an awesome sense of humor and making the classes interesting and highly insightful. He does tend to pick on people, but only when they really deserve it...the kind of people you want to throttle but he'll do it for you...verbally

He is very interested in what he is teaching and he's funny and interesting to listen to. He's a hard grader on papers but I learned more from him than any other English teacher I've ever had. (I took him for both British Lit and Greek Epic Poetry)

First of all, he's totally hilarious. Great professor to have in the morning b/c of that. Grades term papers easily (the easiest As you'll get on college papers, the tests hard (know the quotes) and in-class essays somewhere in the middle. Enjoys the lit like no other professor, and it's contagious! Take all the classes with him that you can.

He is a fun techer. I went to Germany with him and it was a blast. I also had him for English and did fine. But, now that I am in German 1, it isn't easy. More so on the test side. His first test wasn't exactly a test, but more like a comprehensive exam at the end of the year.
