ugh. I will say that I got a better grade than I was expecting but jeez. very hard if you arnt german and never spoken the language. gets on to people for asking what things mean and writing them down. i took two semesters of russian prior to this class and the russian was way easier. just did not like his teaching style. and pushes political view

Horrible communication. Make sure you keep up with the HW and the course schedule because there's a quiz like every class. I only got an A in here because I am german and i already knew most of the stuff. I would suggest trying to get the other german prof which i couldn't get.

not a horrible class to take i went in knowing nothing about German and i am able to read and understand it now. the only bad part is that there is a quiz almost every day even after tests. other than that if you participate and go to si sessions you'll be fine

Blair is pretty great. He has a strange or goofy sense of humor, but I think it's great! He is very helpful and always makes sure that you understand. You will get called on in class though. Participation matters, but that's for all the German classes.

College-level FL is always hard, but Blair is a good teacher. He really has a passion for the subject. You will have homework every night and a quiz every week, but all the assignments build off one another. If you do not have your book and do not do the homework, you will not pass. Don't take the class if you can't handle work.

Great guy, goofy. His class and tests require effort and consistent study habits, but he's always willing to help you out if you try. You can really tell he has a passion for german and loves to teach. He's a little in your face and will FORCE class participation, but in the long run it really does help you remember the material better.

I had him for two semesters of German and loved him! He is hilarious and makes the class a lot of fun. The class itself is difficult and takes a lot of work and studying, but if you do the work, you will really enjoy him as a professor.

Good teacher. He never made any political comments in my class but I think he had gotten in trouble for it before b/c he almost made a few comments during class but he stopped himself. As a teacher, he asks his students to work but is a very generous grader and is very fair. Just go to class, do the homework and study a couple times a week.

GREAT GUY...VERY OPTIMISTIC, BUT THE COURSE ITSELF IS WHAT KILLED ME. THE BLOCK COURSE IS VERY FAST AND THERE ISN'T REALLY MUCH TIME TO WASTE. I WOULDN'T RECCOMEND IT IF YOU ARE TAKING 15 OR MORE HOURSE CUZ YOU WILL ONLY DRAIN YOURSELF.

Blair is a great teacher. The only reason that he has bad ratings is because the class isn't easy. But when you take a foreign language class, it's not GOING to be easy. So if you're ready to learn German and ready to do some work TO learn German (which you're going to have to do no matter WHO you have), I would recommend him!

Offensive teacher. He makes fun of students in class, pushes his political beliefs, and doesn't actually teach..he merely (quickly) reviews the assigned reading. Overall, while he is very passionate about teaching, he is a horrible professor.
