He's the type of person you want to hate because he pushes you but he's only doing it to help you improve. His class is very easy going, likes to randomly call on students and get their opinion. He is extremely helpful, all you have to do is ask. He does not hesitate to give you answers and is open to hear your side.

Best Professor I've taken by far. Always is energetic and funny, but also cares about student progress and is very understanding. Not you're typical English class. Usually starts with a short writing quiz and uses the rest of the time to free brainstorm for assignments. Really tough grader but feedback is helpful and lets any paper be revised.

En Com is a difficult class for me, but this professor made it easy for me, he is so good, he guides you to do what he wants to see on the papers he asks you to write. He is hilarious, makes me laugh all the time and this helped me to be relax in class which helped a lot with the writing. You end learning a lot. I highly recommend him

Professor Blake is a great teacher. He keeps you interested in the subject matter. If you think Search for Identity is going to be easy then don't take this course. There is 5+ books to purchase (not expensive example Death of Salesman) plus tons of hand outs. Decent grader. Fair

J. Blake engages students in a way you don't see in many other courses. He cares for his students and always wants you to improve. By making room for improvement, Blake allows revisions for better grades and encourages participation. Very respectable and knowledgeable professor.

Professor Blake is hilarious. I am taking him now for en 102. I would recommend taking him but only if you are willing to put in some major work. All I can say is assignments galore. Never a moment when you are not doing a paper for his class. With that being said, his directions are clear and you can revise any graded paper in his class .

Professor Blake is a rare specimen at Worcester State. He's great academically, but there are many knowledgeable professors. He stands apart because of the support he gives, the level of confidence he at least appears to have in his students' abilities, his compassion, and his general decency as a human being.

Professor Blake is one of the best (if not the best) professors to take. He's super helpful and really gets you involved in the class. Classes always busy but interesting. He values and respects you as a student and shows it. Expect a lot of writing. His class is definitely challenging but worth it. No easy A. Had him 2 semesters in a row.

Taking him for EN-101, and so far not a single complaint. He keeps me engaged throughout class and I actually look forward to attending. Assignments are fairly easy, he quizzes us at least once a week. He is also down to earth and very easy to get along with. I recommend this professor for EN-101 and EN-102!

Hes a great instructor but he's grading is awful. he never gives anything above a b+ no matter how good the paper is. But he lets you redo the paper for a better grade.

I took Intro to Poetry with Blake. I hate poetry but his class was very interesting. Show up to class and take notes on every poem gone over in class and you will be set for the midterm and final as they are open notebook. One final paper at the end of the course, rough draft mandatory midway through but he goes over it. I received an A,take him!

BE PREPARED. You will have tons of work in this class. Yes, he is a nice guy who wants you to succeed & is always willing to help, but his grading is so hard that you're constantly rewriting papers & once you finish that you have an endless list of other papers and quizzes to take. The work load became so overwhelming I ended up having to withdraw.

Blake is great. He gets to know you on a personal level and cares about you as a person, he might give you a nick name or two, but all in good fun. Not only is Blake a great guy, but he is a great teacher, I learned more in his English class then I did in my entire high school career. Best english professor I've had thus far.
