Nice enough guy but he has to teach a lot of long dry content. Can be a bit intimidating sometimes in class. His textbook is a 1000 page manual that is impossible to read and his tests are ridiculously hard. If you see a detail that you think will never be tested on, make sure you memorize it, you'll need it.

Lectures are good. However his tests are how should we say very difficult. On his test you have to know the pins and speeds for pretty much everything. Be warned his test are hard so learn the pins and transfer speeds.

Comment:

The hardware classes that he teaches are mostly made up of theory, with a few days devoted to hands on with machines. This is perfectly understandable because you can only do so much with taking a computer, router, or switch apart and reassemble it back togeather. Read the textbook like a manual and understand it and you will do fine in his course.

You would expect that in a Hardware class, you would actually you and work with computer hardware. Not in John Brohman's class. In Johns class you read textbooks and memorize useless information to be tested on. Image being taught how to drive, without actually ever getting in a car, that is how a class with John feels.

Trys to be a nice guy but in turn stabs you in the back when your not looking. Expects us to know subjects he doesn't even know much about. Takes class mates to solve the problems rather then the Instructor. If you are going to have him as an instructor expect the worse and you'll get it.

Gets really into your face teaching style that keeps everyone on the edge of their seats. Very good teacher that is able to help you out alot. You always want to be prepared for his class

He keeps all the students awake using a fear tactic teaching style where he will ask random questions to a student and try to embarrass them infront of the class if they get it wrong. Ironicly if a student asks him a question in which he does not know the answer he will side step to avoid it. His tests can be an easy 100% or a gaurenteed fail.
