He knows his stuff, I learned much from him. Left the class feeling very guilty about how the Native Americans were and still are treated.

I enjoyed him, however, I consider myself to be a strong writer so my perception may be a bit skewed. Overall, I found his Research Methods class to be fairly interesting.

Only gives an A, C, or F on papers. More likely than not a F. Doesn't matter how good your paper is, will give you a C if he finds the smallest error. Can't read his handwriting so you won't know how to fix your errors.

He likes to judge law enforcement in the Winona area without even knowing the facts. What kind of professor jumps to conclusions without having facts? Does he teach his students without knowing the facts? Or does he just make stuff up like he did for the Winona Daily News. Save your time and money.

He repeatedly came to class late every day so don't worry if you're 2-5 minutes late because he's still gone getting his coffee. He has a ton of discussions, asks for MAJOR participation from you and has a lot of Essays and it gets old fast. He never had any tests just Quizs. SO BLESS UP. You read every night and have a worksheet. Be strong.

He is someone who expects a lot out of you. You basically have to read something for every class so expect that. If he assigns a textbook, you are going to need it for sure. You really only had 3 big things you had to do in the class, the midterm and final were 2 papers & a group project. Participation and attendance are a big deal as well.

If your an English major I would suggest him otherwise I would not. He is very strict grammatical and structural errors for his papers, 6 or more errors equals an automatic fail. There is also a lot of busy work, worksheets every night on two or three chapters that are used for discussion but were never graded.

I am pretty sure that he would prefer to be an English professor, instead of being a History Professor. He expects the work of a 200 level class minimum on papers, and if you forget your book on a discussion day, he won't count your attendance. He expects active class participation in the middle of lecture, and his handwriting is abysmal.

Campbell honestly wasn't the worst professor I've ever had for history, but in a lot of aspects he surly isn't the best. He's huge on giving pop quizzes but if you do the assigned readings you will be fine. Attendance is mandatory and he takes it extremely seriously. He isn't easy to get ahold of outside of class and doesn't use D2L.

A lot of reading but he gives you a question guide, answer those questions and you'll do fine on the pop quizzes. If you do bad there is extra credit. He is an adorable old man that is a real joy to learn from, he is very passionate about history. Beware of the papers though, heavily graded on grammar, run it through grammarly first.

Good professor overall. Expects a lot for a 100 level course. SO much reading! Participate in class or your grade will reflect upon it. Very passionate about history which makes his class a lot better. He's willing to answer any questions to help you succeed.

John is a cute old man who will confuse you to days end. I took this class not expecting lecture, and there it was staring at me in the face! He drones on about interior design elements and gives the weirdest tests; IN CLASS ON YOUR OWN COMPUTER! Anyways, take the class for an easy art credit. He's sweet. Helped me when I was out for a few classes.

Took a class with him and ended up dropping it. He assigns a ton of reading so be ready for that. Pop quizzes are not uncommon and there are usually several chapters (sometimes from multiple books) that he quizzes on, so it's very difficult to know what to look for. If you forget a book or can't get one he will mark you absent for that day.

Really nice guy that will teach you a lot if you give the class a chance. Gives you A LOT of reading but do it and you will do fine on quizzes. I have learned more from this class than any other class I have taken. Really insightful knowledge. He is a tough grader. It helps if you are a good writer. No tests, just papers. 25% of grade is attendance

I really have enjoyed Campbell as a professor for a couple different classes and he has inspired my major decision. A lot of people complain about him, but if they complain it is because they are too lazy to do any work reading- not because Campbell is unreasonable because that's not true.

I'm almost certain any history major will love this class. If you are another major and take this for the cultural aspect, that is good, yet remember history is mostly reading and analyzing. Professor Campbell is a highly knowledgeable and responsive person. Don't be afraid to speak up in class but don't try to BS participation points.

Professor Campbell is not easy, but college shouldn't be. You have to bring your book to class everyday and do the reading. His quizzes are hard but they are always based on the reading guide;which you get for each reading. If you don't want to work don't take his class.30% of your grade is attendance and there are no tests, just papers and quizzes

Campbell is a very solid professor. Some people don't like him because you actually have to read to succeed in the class, but it isn't too bad. Grade is based on papers, attendance, and quizzes. He is a good lecturer and a decently tough grader.
