Very good lecturer/speaker. Gives you outlines for class, tests, and papers - very clear about what he expects! Tests are difficult and papers are graded harshly, but he is always willing to help if you ask questions or e-mail him.

I highly recommend any class taught by Dr. Carroll. He has a sense of humor, wants students to enjoy the material, and really knows his stuff. His tests aren´t bad as long as you take notes and put forth the effort. As far as papers, he expects quality, so don´t try to write it the night before and expect a good grade. Definitely take his class!

Arrogant and super-smart, Dr. Carroll is a good lecturer and does present a good class. Tests are difficult and he is a severe paper-grader. You will definitely learn a lot even if your final grade isn't great.

Amazing teacher - class is enjoyable and he GIVES you the outlines (you would have to be a total bum not to have good notes for the exams) Exams are straight forward but do not take if you have issues with date/people memorization. I loved this class!

Don't Take this class unless you are a date and name freak! The tests only have one essay on them that is worth 25% the rest is memorizing a billion dates and names! Class if interesting and he is a good teacher, but the test requires a super amount of memorization!

one of SLU's finest. His lectures are brilliant and he really tries to include and help everyone in his class. His tests are very tough, but if you pay attention to names and dates you'll be ok.

Awesome professor. Very easy to talk to outside of class. Knows his info very well. Took his Chinese History class and his British Empire class. Both were excellent. I can't wait to take him again. His tests are hard, but if you prepare ahead of time and talk to him before the test, you should do ok

arrogant Harvard guy. He's pretty flexible with papers and will give you extensions and let you re-write them if necessary. Uses outlines so its easy to follow along in class.
