The prof is amazing and explains each concept thoroughly and clearly. The course content is quite awesome too and I found a lot of its applications IRL. The course is very tough and so is the grading. Read and revise the online course notes, the assignments, all class notes and problems solved in the class. You are more likely to pass if done so.

Professor John is very kind and intelligent but SYSC 5004 course is tough and difficult to understand. He writes things on board very fast. His online notes are good enough though. Class attendance is mandatory because if you skip one class, you won't understand anything in next class. Midterm and final exam was intermediate. Tough grader.

Awesome prof with interesting lectures. Only issue is you will get arthritis trying to write notes in this class. Midterm/exam are challenging but fair. Study the tutorial examples and you will get a good mark.

Best prof ever! Very likeable and knows the class like the back of his hand. I also recommend this class as a 4th year elective for anyone in eng. Easy A if you keep up!

Prof John is the best prof when it comes to Optimization courses. He is very easygoing and helps you more than your expectation. You should understand his lecture notes rather than just writing them down. They are all there on the course portal. In order to pass this course you have to attend all the lectures. He doesn't mind failing.

I like this prof very much. He is so kindness to a foreign student like me. The only thing you should know is that you much write down all the things on the blackboard and no time to rest in his class. But I got so much knowledge from his class. Thanks.

Fun course, prof has great notes and good teaching style. You can tell he put effort into this course. He does write really fast on the board, but his online notes are good enough, plus you'll get the gist from the assignments. He's very helpful out of class too.

He is extremely educated in the material; can answer a question without thinking twice. Very witty and makes the material interesting. His exam and midterm was too long considering time given, but if you work extremely hard, u'll do well. Don't take it as an eng. elective tho (too much work for elective).
