Comment:

The worst teacher I've ever had. Thinks he's amazing at teaching, but isn't. Flies through slides and doesn't even post them after. Expects you to read the textbook and understand after one read. The textbook doesn't even make sense. The tests don't make sense and even he gets confused. For instance, he'll say the answers B but then says its C.

Comment:

His tests never make any sense. Grades things poorly overall, and does not teach well. He is a nice person, just a very bad teacher. I wouldn't mind getting lunch with him, but I wish he would actually instruct the course material in our class periods. Would not reccomend to anyone, he expects you to do too much work to make up for him not teaching

This is a graduate course elective, which is only a one credit class. It is offered only online which also makes it difficult. This class is also very similar to the undergraduate class, so don't waste your time if you already took this. Also this is an extremely content heavy course with reading, discussions and papers.

If you are a person who uses PowerPoints in conjunction with reading, you will not like this class. He will not put up PowerPoints until after you test on the material. He expects you to read the book and understand it in one sitting. The book is heavy reading and a lot of the time takes more than one reading to understands. Wont answer questions

Comment:

Conahan is the man for the most part. Some of his comments may be blunt but he "calls them as he sees them" in every sense of the meaning. He's a fair grader that makes you work but if you work for it, there's no reason you won't get the grade you want. Recommended for sure.

Conahan is a fantastic professor. The only reason students do not like him is because they don't want to do the work. He is very difficult but you will learn so much from him. If you need help go to him, he loves when students ask questions. He is the best swk professor at KU. He is willing to help students anyway he can. Overall great man!

Definitely go to class. His exams are online which is nice, but they can be hard. I think the most important thing that matters to him is participation, because he's a harsh grader on that, and can bring down your average for the class. A couple of papers. Gives out a bunch of extra credit. Cumulative Final, but was easy.

I think some of these comments are a little harsh.. but I can understand. Conahan is not a bad guy he makes his students laugh however some of the assignments are a little confusing. It is nothard to get a passing grade in his class but there are a lot of assignments envolved. Choose your SWK professors wisely but there is no need to avoid him.

He's not a bad buy, little full of himself but he knows what he's talking about. online quizzes get messed up sometimes and is tests can be worded weird but if you do the work and participate it's not hard to do well

Terrible teacher. Doesn't know he is talking about. Thinks he is the man. He just comes into class and acts like hes cool and tries to build up his ego. Hes not a good teacher his class is uninformative and his tests are incoherent. He shouldnt be teaching a college class.

The worst teacher I have ever had. Does not care about your grades. Got to the last day of class and he added 2 chapters that we didn't go over in class onto the final. His tests are absolutely ridiculous and you essentially have to teach yourself from the book. DON'T TAKE HIM.

He is very knowledgeable about his stuff. however it doesnt translate well. he at times rambles on, and speeds through powerpoints. his test are very poorly worded, and even if you study it seems impossible. However he gives A TON of extra credit. make sure you participate, because that grade is based on if he knows your name. NOT AN EASY A!

I took him over the summer. I think he was a good professor. The tests were hard, but he gave enough other assignments that you could keep your grade up as long as you do them. Lots of work. I bombed the final but still got a B overall. I would take him again because I learned alot in his class. If you don't get something you need to ask.
