I am completely lost in his lectures and his voice puts you asleep so easily. He rarely talks about basic concepts during class. His tests are the most frustrating I've ever had. We never even touched on bond order before chapter 9 and this concept is heavily tested for a chapter 5-8 test. I have no idea how the others are getting good grades.

His lectures are quite slow and boring - they rarely educate very much. However, he posts his lecture slides online, which are very informational and necessary for the test. His tests are a little intensive but he has a nice curve. He is a very nice man, try and get to know him.

I think he forgot that he was assigned to teach a chem 6A class. His powerpoint slides were pulled directly from his upper division classes. He tends to ramble about something for the whole lecture and then tells the class it isnt needed for the course but for future reference. Dont do it to yourself unless your willing to self study

Professor Crowell is a very nice professor but his lectures do not necessarily help in preparation for the tests. Much learning is done through Sapling homework. Tests are similar to Spaling homework because of this and is all multiple choice.

Comment:
Professor makes the course pointlessly hard with practice exams that are not similar to the actual tests at all which there are too many of! Final is nothing like the practice final as well. Also makes false cheating accusations and is overly paranoid about academic integrity to the point of getting innocent people expelled pointlessly.

Do everything in your power NOT to take this professor. Lectures are nothing like practice exams, practice exams are nothing like midterms. Haven't taken the final yet but have been studying for 2 weeks and bombed the practice final. Every new exam you take is brand new stuff you've never seen before. Lectures are BORING and he goes too much detail

Professor Crowell is a really nice professor but not the best professor. He understands he's not the best and there is a generous curve. If you want to learn chemistry, don't take him. If you want to pass chemistry not knowing anything, take him.

He is a really genuine teacher and tries to get you to understand the topic but he just spits out info at you. He does not show many examples in class and he requires you to buy a book but you really do not need to read for that class. He is absolutely adorable but does not make the class interesting at all, I fall asleep in every lecture.

Really passionate, caring guy who tries to get students interested and wants students to pass. BUT, lectures are boring, has noticeable stutter, and uses material from later chapters and more advanced classes, which makes it confusing. Uses complex, conceptual ideas for tests, make SURE you understand concepts, practice exams are VERY helpful.

I studied 16 hours for each midterm and still failed the class. Hard to understand during lecture and the exams were much different than the practice and homework. He's a nice person, but I work not recommend taking him as a professor

Professor Crowell's a nice person. lectures aren't interesting. All the homework and quizzes are online. Lecture slides are pretty useful for midterms and final. Don't really need to read the textbook. Attend discussion sessions for extra credit. Stay until the end of classes cuz he likes to give iclicker questions at the end. He curves the grade.

Professor Crowell is a nice man, but not the most engaging lecturer. His lectures almost put me to sleep, but his slides contain a lot of information that is helpful for his exams. If you read the book, you should be able to do the homework and perform well on the exams. This class does not require much memorization because of his equation sheets.

Prof. Crowell is a really good professor. He is a little boring but he could always make the content clear by lecture and lecture slides and his homework or tests are not difficult. You don't have to remember many things since many unnecessary things would be on equation sheet. If you follow his lectures, you would get a good grade.

I love professor crowell as a person, but he is kind of boring during lectures because he goes into so much detail you don't need for the exams. As for exams, questions are fair and straightforward. Attend discussion for extra credit, go to class for clicker points, and do your hw and you will easily do well!

not a great public speaker, very hard to understand. I couldn't follow his lectures at all. The tests are extremely difficult. Unless you are confident you can pass self taught, take another teacher.

I would not take his class again. He is not a good lecturer. He uses clicker points, which is the only reason I kept going to his lectures, as they are a portion of the grade (not just extra credit). There are many opportunities for extra credit if you go to the discussion, however.

Comment:
Crowell's class depends on if you read your textbook. If you do, and work on the practice problems he gives, you'll probably pass. I did not like his lectures at all as they focused on the minutia of the equations of chem while his test does not reflect that at all. Also, tolerating his lectures themselves are hard because he uses a monotone voice.

If you love chem or have a solid chem background you'll love his classes bc they're so extra. His Chem 6A is like Honors Chem. The avg freshman should stay away from his class tho or ull probably get a B- or B+. His tests are HARD.
