Professor Culp is great! The material can be difficult at times, but he does an outstanding job of explaining the key points. He gives great outlines of the readings and always puts them up on Sakai. He will answer any question and make sure you know the answer before he's done. Take his class and be prepared to talk!

Dr. Culp is a fantastic teacher. The course material is difficult and I am not very interested in philosophy, but Dr. Culp is patient and knowledgable. I took the intro class to complete a requirement and I learned a lot along the way. I cannot recommend Dr. Culp enough because he is an incredibly intelligent, caring teacher who challenges you.

Professor Culp is extremely intelligent and gets you to think! He engages the class, and half of class is discussion, but he doesn't force you to join in. You have "papers" that can be a few sentences, that's ALL the writing. And tests are RIGHT out of his lecture notes posted online! It's such an easy A, and you will learn a lot if you care to!

easiest philosophy there is, the "papers" can be less than a paragraph. tests are straight from his lecture summaries. however, lecture is very dull, he just talk at you for an hour. very nice old man. take with a friend.

If you aren't a philosophy major, then you shouldn't be rating a philosophy teacher based on the intro class. This guy owns as a philosophy teacher. Really cool and very humble. Don't let these dumb intro students fool you. All philosophy teachers are 'hard' and a lot of 'work' if it isn't your thing.

Very easy class. The tests are pretty much based on the lecture notes which he posts after every lecture study those and you'll b fine. A lot of reading but will always discuss in class. Can get a A if effort is put in if not maybe get a B or high C.

Culp is great. He knows A LOT about philosophy and is very helpful as far as sharing what he knows with the class. With his class comes an online component that outlines exactly will be on the exams. About 20 minutes of reading before every class which is the topic of discussion. Class is completely discussion based. Learned a ton from Culp!

Culp is a great guy and a good teacher. He doesn't use a lot of visuals during teaching, which I didn't like, and the information was interesting if you can get past a somewhat boring lecture. However, if you have to take this class, I'd take him. Nice guy, helpful and the class is pretty easy if you use the online guides to study for tests.

There is reading every night nad then a discussion about it next class period. His tests are hard to understand and it seems like we only talk about the people and what each believe and what philosophical title they have.

Do your reading! He'll call on you in class. Some tests were very hard, not so if you keep up with notes and the like. Posts all his notes online. Good in-class discussions. Not bad but you definitly cannot slack off on reading and expect to know what everyone else is talking about
