I took his German Film and it's the best course I've ever taken. He's very encouraging but challenges you to push the envelop at the same time. I forgot to send the feedback form back to his department so I guess I'll say some good things about him here...

Really knows what he's talking about and is very fair. Shows films that are different examples of the various film movements, not the same ones you see in every film class, which is a nice break. Very knowledgeable about film! Probably my favorite film professor so far.

Don't bother bringing up any concerns you might have with this guys' techniques (vague, online multiple choice questions where a simple mistype can drop your grade) because he'll just insult your ability to take notes. The material is interesting, but the incessant droning of the prof (and the lack of concern for students) will eventually annoy you

Shows alot of clips instead of entire films, which sucks.Nice guy, doesn't require a textbook. Pretty funny, never rude. Ambiguous questions on quizzes and worksheets but you can normally guess the right answers if you've lightly skimmed the reading.Take home final! I'd reccomend his class, it's not hard and it's interesting if you like film.

The worst thing about this class is the number of "know it alls" that try to answer every question Davidson poses. Those of you in the WI05 session, you know who you are. The class is pretty boring because it lasts for two hours, but it also can be interesting. Take home midterm/final cheat sheet
