Devlin is awesome. One of my favorite professors ever. This class was tough, but if you are interested and show up to his lectures, there is no way he won't engage you and you will definitely learn a lot. Mix in some sincere studying, and you'll have an A. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing this professor is at teaching this material.

Was far and away the best professor I ever had. Lectures were consistently engaging and interesting. Reading the material is a necessity to performing well on the tests, I found that 5-6 hours a week was what was needed to keep up. Many of the readings can be confusing and hard to get through, but Devlin makes himself very available to explain.

Devlin is an amazing professor. This class was just a general requirement for me, but he was very entertaining and I really enjoyed the class. You have to do the readings and go to class to do well, but his notes are great and are pretty much exactly what's on the test.

He is an interesting person and very lively. There are quizzes almost everyday so it is mandatory to go to class. He tells you what the quiz question will be so make sure you do the reading. His tests are short answer/essay so make sure you know the material.

Best course I took at ASU. Also the hardest. But Devlin is brilliant and good at explaining things and he actually cares. I would have taken more courses with him if I could.

I LOVE this class! Devlin is an amazing teacher and will definitely keep you interested in the class even if you only signed up for "some elective credit". Attendance is not mandatory but show up to class since it will help you ALOT, read the homework and study with friends for the test. If you think of anything go to his office hours! :)

Great class. He is extremely funny, and also very helpful. The class requires a lot of work from the student, but if you come to class you should be fine.

He clearly has a passion for teaching, and he's a funny and engaging guy, but he was extremely unclear in his lectures, due to constantly repeating his words but with slight variations. The exams were written response essay-format.

He makes a lot of joke in class while still teaching you the material. Very interesting course, but you need to go to class for the quiz questions at the beginning of each class. He tells you the question the class before so you can find the answer which is helpful. There is very little reading, but the reading you do is very dense.

He's high-energy and really keeps your attention, even though sometimes he doesn't make a lot of sense. Class is all reading based. So the reading and go to class, you will get the hang of it. As for the teacher himself, not the greatest. He's very disrespectful of his students and lacks professionalism, especially in language.

Lectures were all over the place, barely made any sense, and were obviously lacking in depth. Exams didn't reflect any of the reading, which made them extremely difficult to do well on (it was pretty much a guessing game). If you are a serious philosophy student, I suggest you not take a course from Prof. Devlin.

This teacher was hilarious. He makes the craziest jokes. I found this class difficult though, not because he didn't do a good job teaching, I just don't have an interest in philosophy. He rarely updated blackboard so keeping track of your grade was hard. Go to class, he gives easy quizzes(you automatically get 1 of the 2 points by writing your name

LOVED Devlin. He gives random quizzes so GO to lecture which isn't a problem considering he makes them fun.By far my fav. professor. You really don't have to read if you pay attention in lecture, but it does help considering it's necessary to understand the material for the exams(3 essay responses).Would recommend for sure.

I wish I'd gone to more of the lectures, because Devlin usually made them pretty enjoyable. The readings aren't very fascinating (to me, anyway) but the way he explains them certainly is. Don't underestimate the tests; you need to actually understand the material if you want to do well. Overall, Devlin's a cool guy, and I recommend him.

If you're planning on taking PHI, take it with Devlin! He is so hilarious and doesn't make the lecture boring at all! This is my favorite professor at ASU. Tests are easy if you read and memorize and get help from the tutors. Definitely recommend taking this class. He has terrible handwriting, but always yell out, "BOARD!" If you can't read it.

If you want a professor that really is passionate on what he teaches, is humorous, and a little on the wild side -- then take his classes. He uses many "tinker toy" examples to help the students get the even most difficult concepts. And if you don't understand in class he is equally helpful in his office hours. I HIGHY recommend, Devlin.

Professor Devlin is one of my favorite professors! I highly recommend taking his class. He is funny, he has a passion for philosophy, and he tries to explain the material so that it is easier to understand. This class is difficult. Its a good idea to go to every lecture, take clear notes, and study.
