I don't get the bad ratings. He DOES care about his students, and is the only accounting teacher that actually seems to remember you after you take his class. The class was somewhat difficult, but it's accounting! Just do the homework and the other easy points and you'll do fine

Comment:

Dexter is a tax wiz and he knows what he's talking about, but he has a hard time conveying that to his students. Get to know him you'll do better that way. Also the testes are very difficult, but he gives opportunities to get other point too; this class was much better than Acc. 370.

I took him in a summer session. I really really liked him. he made the material easy to understand, I still did poor, but I'm just not good at accounting, especially tests. But I talked to him a lot. If he knows you are trying your hardest, you will be fine! Great guy!

VERY HARD class, but that's not Dexter's fault. Tests are extremely difficult, but he'll make sure you pass! Overall a nice guy and very good at what he does! ASK QUESTIONS!

John Dexter is a great professor & terrific person. I had John his first year teaching at NU & we got along very well from day 1. You will need to apply yourself on your own a little but once he realizes you're taking it seroiously, he goes above & beyond to help you. I urge you to take him & really get to know him, witty & very wise in his craft.

He tends to blow through the material rather quickly so I ended up teaching myself a lot of the concepts. However, if you take the initiative to ask qsts. after class, he is more than willing to help! Tests are rather difficult but he does offer extra credit and I would highly recommend you participate in class.

Horrible teacher don't take him if you have a choice. Terribly unclear and discriminates against transfer students. Doesn't grade fairly and if you're not a teacher's pet you probably won't do well.
