Drop, from what I've heard, is a great teacher at specialty classes, such as steadycam and dolly, but in general film classes, he is THE worst professor I've ever had. He just shows you films, then tells you to do your movie in that style, and when you do, he'll say he "doesn't get it." He didn't teach me anything I didn't already know!

Drop is tough, but fair. He doesn't play favorites, and he will judge you entirely by the effort you put towards your work. Taking a class from Drop is like a sneak peek into the "real world" of dealing with clients and supervisors.

"uummmmmmm, okay"...NO. Do whatever you can NOT to take him. I didn't learn one thing in Intro to Video. and friends that had in Film felt the same way. BUT, I've heard good things about his dolly class. Apparently that is his specialty. So, don't take him for anything but Dolly.

what you learn from John Drop is the same that you would learn never taking the class...absolutely nothing. he talks down to you and is not clear on anything he says. save yourself the money and the time--dont take him.

Drop is tough, no lie. But he is tough for a reason (YOU LEARN A LOT). You will have 2 projects in this class. One midterm (practice) and the final (the real deal(HARD)). Oh and btw, you use DVCPRO 25 cameras, so thankfully no film used in this class.

"drop" is awesome. I do for a living now the same stuff he taught me then. some may think he's a dork. his "kick in the butt" stuff is for the same stuff that will get you fired/blacklisted in the real world.
