Comment:
The definition of a pedant. Taught with dense, dense powerpoints. Bring a laptop or something to do because oh, hope leaves quick. Grading was rough. Got lucky with our final being 5 pages instead of 12, as another student told me he gave once. I took 50+ pages of notes size 11 on topics I don't know how are connected, so you tell me what's up.

JEM is really smart, and he has a (very dry) sense of humour. If you take constant notes and review the power points, you'll be fine. Ask questions! his organization could be better, but he is always available via e-mail and office hours. He's not discussion based, but I learned a ton from his class.

Comment:
Dense, dry reading, more than is needed for a 280. Makes you write an abstract for an article each week, graded "acceptable" or "unacceptable". 1 factual error unacceptable. The unacceptables drop your grade fast. There was no real graded work in this class until far after the drop deadline, even for free drop. Old school; lectures go on forever

Comment:
Very knowledgeable and a nice person, but boring lectures and shouldn't be teaching intro art history. Makes you memorize pointless vocab, and doesn't give adequate feedback or guidance for writing (which is a different expectation than writing intensive classes). I still don't know how to write an art history paper or actually analyze art.

Nice guy but difficult professor. Take lots of notes and review the powerpoints he uses frequently. Willing to help if you seek him out for questions. Very knowledgeable, which is why he can go on LOTS of tangents during lectures.

This is the worst professor I've ever had. He is clear as mud, loves to hear himself talk, and gets offended when one asks questions. Stay away!

Comment:
His expectations are way too high. The analysis, study, and work required felt like an upper level seminar and nothing like what an introductory class should be. He is a good guy though and a nice professor. Very fascinating, very friendly and wiling to help. Just be really interested and prepared to work hard in the course.

he is the most hilarious man ever. he is tough and very precise about everything. as long as you come to terms with the fact that the class will never get up to the renaissance, it's really quite enjoyable. if you like a dry sense of humor, that is.

He is amusing for the first three days while you're still laughing at the fact that he IS Corcky St.Claire from "Waiting for Guffman." If you've never seen the movie, you dose from day one. Either way, you're skrewed. He's also an inconsistet
