fun lectures, cool guest speakers like the mayor of nashville and former vice president al gore. really tough to get an A, but easy to get a B come to class, take notes, and read as much as you can most difficult part is writing the essays, extremely vague expectations, or none at all

Geer is funny and insightful. Class needed more organization, but it's interesting just to hear his ideas. He respects students and their thoughts, however vapid. Class was large, so TAs did grading, which was erratic on tests, but fair on papers. Tests are free response; you choose which questions to answer, but they're tough, so do well on papers

Geer is an engaging lecturer and knows his stuff. Attending lectures is not only interesting, but helpful in being prepared for exams. However, tests and papers are graded by TA's, so the grading expectations become less clear.

Geer is a relatively interesting lecturer, worth it to go to class as lectures are on exams. Class not an easy A, but if you put your work in, go to review sessions and revise papers with TA should get at least B+. TA has grading power, so make friends, unique thought rewarded in papers

Professor Geer is helpful outside of class if you seek him out. This is a huge lecture class so attendance is not taken, but go to class. He is an interesting lecturer and brings in really interesting outside speakers. The outside speakers will be on the exams! Three exams, three papers, and one final big question. Not hard.

Amazing class!!! I would absolutely recommend it. Professor Geer is fantastic! As long as you do the readings and take notes in lectures, tests and papers should be fine. Very interesting material, as well.

Professor Geer's course was a lot of fun. His lectures were always great, and he did a great job incorporating current issues into the requisite American history. The reading is substantial, but most of it is reasonably interesting. I switch to a PSCI major because of him!

Professor Geer is a great lecturer, always brings in interesting speakers (ex. Tim Pawlenty, Anne Kornblut, etc), and explicitly tells you at least one question you can expect on each upcoming test...but that means you have to really plan out your essays beforehand in order to get full credit. Also, get to know the TAs! They grade your papers!

One of the leading political scientists in the nation. Definitely knows his stuff. If you are a PSCI major you should take at least one class with him. I liked his lectures better than Oppenheimer's.

Great class. The workload isn't overwhelming, and you'll learn a lot. Better yet though, the class allows you and encourages you to form your own opinion, which is very fulfilling. The lectures are very well structured and very interesting. Take this class.
